^the other 3 were dumb enough not to tell him to slow down. Also, if you're simpathizing, there are other more worthy deaths, like our soldiers in iraqs.

i'm just waiting for the parents of the teens to threaten the state with a lawsuit and start protesting that the jersey barrier is at fault for not being tall enough.

Gotta feel bad that this accident took place.

If any good comes out of it, I hope all their friends realize how dumb it is to be speeding or to hotdog it in front of your friends.

If they had hit another car and killed some innocent people, I would have a lot less sympathy for them.

You are an immature worthless piece of shit. If you were here in front of me, I'd kick your squinty-eyed ass and then piss all over you.

Obviously you have never seen a highway fatality or been to a young person's funeral. You'd have a different perspective. Instead you are an ignorant and self-righteous fuckhead. Yea, those kids were stupid, but they don't deserve to lose their lives.

Again, making preemptive judgements. I've seen tons of pictures of highway fatality accidents ... if I made the same statement (I'm not, but if I did), would I be better or worse than this person?

What I always find intersting, and which is never reported in the news, is whether these ppl were known as "hotshots" around their HS and were known to race, etc. Nobody has said anything about the possibility of additional vehicles involved in crash yet.

From WRAL
"The (accident) report indicates that the investigators found reason to suspect that alcohol may have been involved," said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue. "That certainly doesn't confirm that it was, but there was enough reason for them to do some follow-up work."
In my humble opinion, four 18 year old high school kids who die in a 115mph flaming auto wreck, which was the result of their own stupidity (the driver had been in 2 wrecks prior to this), is NOT what i call a tragedy. forgive me if i seem insensitive. Now four honorable 18 year old soldiers serving their country, who die in a humvee due to an IED, IS a tragedy. Now im not saying the accident isnt unfortunate, but it is certainly not something to really spend too many sleepless nights over... especially since police suspect alcohol n drugs. i mean would it be a "tragedy" if they were killed doing 115mph and also slammed into a van with a family and kids in it...i doubt it. all this accident shows us once again, is that retarded spoiled teenage highschool (or college kids) are not invincible despite what they think. i know their parents are hurt, and i feel for them. but im not losing any sleep over the young men snuffed out in the prime of their life as a result of their own stupidity. now my fellow young soldiers who have been killed in the prime of their lives serving our country (all arguements of the war aside), or innocent people killed by war, or terrorism or drunk drivers...those ARE true tragedies.

An unfortunate accident, just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Thats what makes it tragic. None of them alone would've never done anything like this by themselves.. Trying to act cool infront of your friends can really make you do some stupid things.

^^^I agree too, this isn't tragic. For me, a tragic event is when unforseen circumstances that are out of ones control, cause great harm. For example, you are driving your own car down the highway and some dude losses control, crosses the median and hits you head on and kills your whole family. Thats Tragic. Been allegedly high/drunk, driving 115mph on an off ramp isn't a tragedy, its darwinism.

im about to move this to chit chat or the soap box. can't decide which.

its a terrible thing. i dont see how people are saying that they don't feel bad because the DRIVER was speeding... 4 people died there. i know i used to speed like hell in high school.

and for the people saying who cares cause you assume they were rich... wow. total trash.

No, its not a tragedy. Its still a horrible thing. Nobody "deserves" to die for speeding.

I want to know where hgtran's power of omnipresence comes from because I'd like to have the ability to understand every single situation anywhere on the planet without actually being there.

Passing judgement on these kids based on what information is available is not only wrong, its just irresponsible.

That said, at least the driver made a mistake, and him and 3 others paid the ultimate price for it. If the 3 others got into a car with a drunk driver, then they made a mistake. I hope you never have a lapse in judgement, because if you do, I hope someone shoots you in the fucking head for it. It would only be consistent with your line of reasoning.

This is probably what was going on in the car at the time:

Passengers: How fast can you take that curve? Wouldn't it be cool if you could do a slide into it and coast on through??!?!
Driver: I can so do that.
Passengers: Pshhh.
Driver: WOoOO!O!O!!!
Passengers: YAYYYYYYY!!!

Bless their families.

We used to do crazy things back in highschool, like power slide with the hand brake down icy hills. But never at 115 mph.

this just sucks all around. all you folks talking shit have probably never been on a bad accident scene. yeah, they were being stupid, but think about how many times you've done something similiar and just been lucky. youth is all we have when we are young, and we do the best with it we know how, and suffer the consequences of our actions

yea but you also have to take in to account their irresponsebility wasn't just threatening their own lives but other drivers on the road too

Dumbest thing I've done involving a car --- jumping off of it going about 30 miles an hour on a neighborhood st...(sober)

They drove ...probably drunk at 105-115 miles per hour.. on an exit ramp...I wouldnt say they are similiar.

I must say I completely disgusted by people's comments. I lost 2 friends in an accident on 540 a few years ago and did all four people deserve to die because they are speeding no. No one deserves to die and as teenagers we all made mistakes. I hope everyone that made some sort of sick comment about this accident rots in the fiery pits of hell.

i agree...

someone mentioned earlier that the others should have been telling the driver to slow down, well they might have been. ive been in a car a few times when i was younger and tried to tell the driver to slow down, some reason they dont always listen. ive also had passengers tell me to slow down.

@ 17-18 i dont think the average person has the experence to operate a car at 120mph around an elevated curve. ive been road racing for about 8 years, ive been in several crashes on the track, altho none serious because of the track crews and track layouts, but i know how easy it is to make a mistake at that speed, and how quick things happen.

its real sad that those kids died, but i cant help to think that it could have been me and my daughter on that road somewhere and our lives could be in danger because of thier actions. i would be really pissed if someone hurt my daughter doing something stupid like that.

last one. IMO the driver is lucky he didnt survive (i know it sad, and i feel for his family) but, death IMO is better that 3 life sentences in prison at 17-18 taking it up the ass every night from a big black dude named Tiny.

Yes, Maryland has this law.
Quite strict one at that.--actually "No passengers under the age of 18"
and Drivers must hold the provisional license for eighteen (18) consecutive months with no moving violations. Any violations or Probation Before Judgement (PBJ) rulings, will mean the eighteen (18) month period must be restarted.

that was an insane crash- you couldn't recognize it was even a car, much less any details about it. Sad, even though it could have been prevented. That ramp is crazy, if you don't know the area...but i'm assuming they did, just at that rate of speed...it's a new ramp, who knows what happened. But that was by far a SHITTY way to die.
