i dunno why the drivers feel the need to turn on the heat when the bus is FULL and its not even that cold outside. just makes for some stank ass bus rides.
also, when its humid and slightly raining has got the be the worst time to ride a full bus. the driver has to turn on the heat to defog his front windows, everyone bitches when a window gets opened cause "it's raining waaahhhh" and the bus in general reeks of wet dog.
good times. 3/16/2006 11:03:59 PM |

i hate it when there's a crowded bus and someone is getting on and walking to find a seat and they step on your foot and don't even say sorry. fucking assholes. i had some big fat fucker step on my shoe, and while it didn't hurt i was still pissed the fuck off, and the people around me could tell, just by my facial expression. one time some sorority chick getting on the frat court bus, nearly sat in my lap, b/c she saw a girl she knew while walking through the aisle. she started talking to her and started sitting down in the seats across from her. problem was that none of the seats in the immediate vicinity were open. it was really funny, b/c you could tell she was a ditz. i had a faceful of ass.

dont get too excited.
another bad one is the person who cant seem to get their balance, even when the ride is reasonably smooth for the wolfline. they always end up almost falling over on every stop and acceleration. which sucks when the bus is crowded.3/17/2006 7:56:15 AM |

But, let's not forget Mr. B, who is driving Centennial in the afternoons these days (used to drive the wolflink).
He's one of the more considerate drivers, even if he's a bit batty. At least he doesn't gun it while you're walking down the aisle.

As for the same "cast" : -That Guy that takes up two seats. Usually it's a sprawled black dude or an Asian/Indian with his bookbag in one of the seats. And I mean even when people are standing b/c they're too much of a wuss to ask the person to clear the seat.
It also irritates me when the driver doesn't take into consideration how slippery it gets when it's been raining/snowing, and just lurches off from a stop before passengers get seated. I once asked a driver to watch for that b/c it was so bad.
As for a positive - a guy gave his seat up once for me. I thought that was really nice of him. I'd do so as well if I saw someone that looked sick, tired or too short to hold onto the bars.3/18/2006 9:38:42 AM |

i dont think anybody has covered the chime pullers.
-panic pullers: the ones who decide to yank the cord a couple of times like their life was depending on it right before the bus stops
-obsessive chime pullers: they are the ones who constantly have to pull the chime either when they know the bus is going to stop when your 10 feet from the stop or when they know the chime doesnt work. for instance, the bus where the stop requested sign does not stay lit, they will continue to pull the chime like they need to test the connection or something. i can sortof understand the people that pull it just to make 100% sure the bus isnt going to pass the library or something. but still, sometimes it doesnt need to be pulled multiple times when people are standing like the want to get on and everybody (including the driver) is tired of hearing the chime.
-mind readers: the people who make that connection with the driver and know the bus is going to stop. i like these chime pullers.
anymore suggestions? 3/22/2006 11:00:22 PM |

i hate the dumb bitches that are talking on there phone, and don't pay attention when it comes close to their stop, then they yell to the driver, "hey can you stop," in a condescending tone. it's not the drivers fault that you weren't paying attention while talking to Kelly about how Brad hasn't been paying enough attention to you. 3/22/2006 11:19:24 PM |

The chime pullers are a bit annoying. Good characters, though. I know of at least one Frat. Court driver that has started turning off the "Stop Requested" bell/light because people haven't realized that he has to stop at Gorman and Kings Ct. whether they want to get off or not.
I'm not sure about those mind readers, though. Are you talking about those people who just randomly start walking to the front of the bus long before the bus has gotten to the stop? 3/22/2006 11:31:08 PM |
soso All American 1168 Posts user info edit post |
the mind reader is hard to describe. its not really as big as the others but i thought i would mention it. you can tell the mind readers because the bus stops and they get off with no chime pull. most of the time its when the rider usually gets off at a stop that the bus rarely stops at and the driver knows this. i guess sometimes it could also be a person the driver knows and always rides shotgun. a mind reader could also be the smart person who realizes if there are people that act like they want to get on the bus at an approaching stop, and the bus has the capacity, they wont pull it. 3/22/2006 11:46:28 PM |

i ride the AF bus a lot and i hate that one white driver he drives mainly in the afternoons and looks russian or something, he NEVER speaks and wont let you get to a seat before taking off, which causes you to fall or trip, plus he comes within inches of the stop before slamming on brakes- hes a very bad driver
also, i love that crazy black guy who rides in the mornings. he always has some funny shit to talk about and will involve anyone in the conversation!

^^ i'm sad to say that i've been that before. i do that usually when i want to finish reading something that i started reading earlier in the day or just don't want to look at the people around me.
on the Centennial bus this afternoon, this one youngish (mid to late 20s maybe) black business type
man sat in the back of the bus. you know suit and tie, nice shoes, a briefcase, look like he just
closed a deal or something. he was back there looking through a legal pad that was in his briefcase
or bag. i guess he was heading to Centennial Campus or something. well when we got to the
Carmichael Gym stop he noticed an attractive you black girl get off. well he was compelled to try to
holler at her through the window when she got off. he said something to the effect of "i didn't
realize you were so beautiful." kind of corny i know, but he did have the balls to try to talk to her. i
personally would never try to holler at a girl through a bus window, but to each his own. well as he's
talking to her these two sorority bitches from Delta Zeta are like, "OMG does he know her," which
they repeated about a hundred times. then they were saying, "OMG he's so sketchy." first off it's
not like he was that much older than her. second don't knock on the guy for trying to talk to a girl.
then they proceeded to talk about how the girl was wearing red shoes, a red coat, and had a red
accented purse. so it's bad to match now-a-days. it reminded me a lot of the white girls at
the beginning of the Sir-Mix-A-Lot video for "I Like Big Butts."
ok well that's my crazy story for today about my adventures on the wolfline.
P.S. Those girls might want to keep your voices down when talking about someone in public. I'm pretty sure he and the rest of the bus heard you.

The only time I've truly been afraid for my life on the wolfline was when an Avent Ferry bus I was on, hit about 65 going down avent ferry. The driver ended up panic stopping and of course, everyone went flying.
Also, I don't know if he rides anymore, but there's this one indian dude with a facial tic that obviously works out at the gym because he gets on at carmicheal in a muscle shirt all of the time. Plus, he's pretty built. Thing is is that his stench is so horrible, people will open the windows even when it's raining. The guy must never shower3/26/2006 10:20:45 AM |

i dread getting on the avent ferry bus when the younger guy driver with the panthers coat is driving. i swear he finds it funny to pull away when you are only 3 feet from the door. the way he slams on breaks its obvious he doesn't care that no one else is wearing a seatbelt. he must be bitter about something... perhaps its because he's a wolfline bus driver?

Only odd thing I've noticed about the wolfline lately is how one of the buses seems to be missing a muffler or something. It's much louder than the others, sounds pretty kickass (or raggedy-ass).4/3/2006 6:58:44 PM |

Last week there was a new driver for Centennial Shuttle. Apparently he didn't understand the round-about and kept driving straight through the yield sign. A truck almost slammed into the bus and he backed up a bunch of traffic while yelling out of the window, "You have to yield!" 4/3/2006 7:09:39 PM |

I was probably the crazy driver yelling at you for coming on the back door if was in 2002, and (as another poster said) I'm glad you remembered. It is very unsafe and against Connex's policy (as of then) for that reason.
Also, it screws up the count...
BTW, none of you should be complaining about the Wolfline. Right now, I work for AppalCART in Boone and it's about 5 times worse than the Wolfline having a bad day.... So unsafe... 4/3/2006 8:22:38 PM |

I wish people wouldn't get on the wrong bus and then frantically pull the chime like it's the bus driver's fault for not stopping. In summary, don't get on #11 unless you know where the fuck you're going. It only has four stops, and there's a 90% chance you will never need to ride it unless you live in Wolf Village and have textiles/engineering courses. 4/17/2006 5:08:39 PM |
