RB is a bad choice unless White, Maroney or Williams is still there imo (and I know that has been said)

I agree that WR should be addressed via trade and FA, not the draft.

TE and LB are the most pressing needs to me

I wonder how much $$ we still have left to spend? Is there a back still out there in FA that could be bought? Arent the texans going to be LOADED at RB this year?

I wonder if we risk throwing a rookie to the wolves? I just looked at a mock that had maroney falling to somewhere near our pick given recent FA signings... Is he a bruiser or more suave like deshaun though?

Maybe the Panthers can pick-up Moulds now that the Bills are letting him seek a trade.

"Panthers sign S McCadam
March 21, 2006

Panthers.com

The Carolina Panthers have signed unrestricted free agent safety Kevin McCadam from the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Tuesday. McCadam, 27, has played in 54 games with six starts for the Falcons during his four-year career, and has also appeared in four postseason contests.

McCadam, 6-1, 219 pounds, appeared in all 16 games for Atlanta in 2005, primarily on special teams. He finished the season ranked third on the team with 11 special teams tackles. He played in 12 contests with three starts in 2003 and registered 23 tackles and one sack.

Originally drafted with Atlanta¹s fifth-round pick (148th overall) in 2002, McCadam played in eight contests with one start as a rookie totaling seven tackles and seven special teams tackles.

McCadam earned second-team All-America honors as a defensive back at Grossmont Junior College in 1999, registering 196 tackles and 12 passes defensed. He started 22 games for Virginia Tech, posting 146 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. McCadam is a native of La Mesa, CA.

I just have to comment on Tree's comment of Foster injuries being compared to Steves injury. No comparison...Foster is hurt pretty much every single (and was not even a season starter). With that I do not trust him to be a season starter now. He can be our 2nd string...

I see everyone asking, but no answers....I am curious also...what backs are still out there that can be a starter?

regarding Foster...he's been in the league 4 years...he didnt even play his 1st year...his 2nd year, the Panthers' Superbowl season, he played like 14 games...remained pretty healthy...his 3rd year, which was 2 years ago, he was 1 of FOUR Panthers RBs to be injured...then last year, he played like 15 games and didnt get injured until the NFC Semifinal game

everybody is injury prone...how about backs like Jamal Lewis or Shaun Alexander or Priest Holmes or Edgerrin James...all of them have had their share of injury problems too...its a rough sport obviously...but then you see teams like the Colts let their star running back go because they believe riding 1 workhorse is not gonna win you a Superbowl...even the Seahawks who got to the Superbowl had a great passing game...Foster is solid

As much as I hate to admit that tree is right, he probably is.

It looks like if we were going after more RB talent for this year, we would have done so already. The only way we still pursue a RB is through the draft and we have already discussed how unlikely that looks unless ol' jerry has a surprise still in development.

I dont think the panthers feel too uncomfortable with running a foster/goings combo run attack, even though it is really not the knockout punch we need for a run oriented team. I would like to see us take care of things and get a bruiser back, but the FA bruisers are already signed.

Damn

Maybe we can boost our D to be sooo sick that it is like the Bears from last year?
(even though they had 2 great RBs that carried their O when orton sucked)

Yep, so back to the original question now that we have talked so much about RBs:
Who the fuck are we gonna draft?

Manny? TJ? perhaps that is wishful thinking of a diehard packfan.....

i'd love to see us get Manny but who knows...not only am I looking forward to the draft and seeing who the Panthers get, I wanna see what State players go where...Mario and Manny are definitely getting drafted...TJ and a couple others will hopefully get picked up

I say the Panthers need:

OLB
TE

and everything else, just get the best guys you can find
