we just lost an awesome coach, one that has brought back into media attention and made us think that we could actually win every game we played and brought talent back to this college, Herb good luck at ASU and hopefully there you will actually have some fans that support you for what you do. For all the ppl that dissed him, well he's gone now and you better hope that you don't regret pushing him out because chances are the same ppl that dissed him this year are going to wish he had stayed in the next couple of years.

Well this is perhaps the most critical point NC State Athletics has or will see for a long time. We absolutely must hire a top of the line coach. Hiring an up and coming mid major coach would be a huge risk and probably a major mistake. My list of candidates:

-Rick Barnes (said he's happy at Texas and there's really more reasons to stay there than to come here but we have to make him #1 on the wishlist either way)
-John Calipari (Memphis coach)
-Lorenzo Romar (Wash coach)
-Tom Moore (UConn's top assistant for 12 years and one of the best recruiters in the nation)

Money must not be an issue and we will probably have to blow these guys away with offers for them to come here.

any other suggestions?

Cam Bennerman should have been a first team all-acc player. he was never given the reigns to the offense and that cost us this season.

arog20012001,

i disagree, but here's the thing about herb. can anyone who's watched our program over the last several years say that they think herb can win a national championship here? the answer is no. i thought he was a GOOD coach. But at state we should strive for a GREAT coach. He's done a very solid job here at state especially considering how Les Robinson took a very good program and kicked it in the balls about a 1000 times. But, he cant take us to to that next level. That is why much of our fanbase has been on the fence or completely jumped it regarding herb. And that is why when Herb came to Lee Fowler today asking him if we would match ASU's offer, Fowler said "two fangaz".

i agree that herb most likely couldn't have taken us to a NC

but seriously, i'm still waiting for you guys to bring up an example of a talent that he "squandered"

julius was our most capable talent and i think maybe the only reason he was as good as he was is that he often went away from the offensive scheme, to take things into his own hands, granted he really screwed up doing that a lot...it still made him stand out

I thought Cam was squandered talent. He could drive, he could shoot off the dribble, and the dude had a 40 inch vertical. Cam should have been getting the ball at the end of games all season. You saw what he could do in one on one end of game situations in the Cal game. But instead for much of the season a guy like atsur or evtimov would have it at the end of the shot clock or end of the game when a shot needed be taken. I love those guys but they sure as hell arent guys who can take their men off the dribble...I dont think herb necessarily "squandered" talent in his stay at state but I do think that the princeton offense kind of handcuffed some of our talent at times

herb maxed out bethels talent....

atsur is actually pretty good, people don't realize that

evtimov is garbage anyway, purely a shooter

already addressed bennerman and fells is a freshman for god sakes

i sware, you must be nutsackr's alias cause you are just as dumb, or dumber.

Actually, the only coach here who was worse was Les. By any measurable standard.

We'll be totally fine kids. In a few years you will realize this.

Big, big props to NCSU legend Tommy Burleson - I think his comments really helped. Then again, I'm sure he doesn't know basketball.

Thanks Herb. You left the program in better shape than you inherited it, and you moved on when it was time. Wish you the best. I always liked the guy as a person and I'm happy for him.

ernie that's just a silly comment.

what about the Cal game, what about the clemson game. and i'm pretty sure somebody threw it to cam with very little time left in the game forcing him to heave it up there against miami last year. either way, cam was our best player and our best option in one on one situations.
