^^Final 4?? Couple of Sweet 16's I believe.

Bottom line is that he's a big-name coach and I'd want him over any other midmajor.

will yall ever give this up?? It's over now, who cares who said they wanted Herb to stay or go...just support NC State and see what next year will bring us. Don't get started on this bullshit trend before we even see who we hire and how he does. And before you go off on being a fan means wanting good thing for our team, because you would be talking out of your ass. Most of yall want us to lose to prove that Herb should have stayed and thats bullshit. Being a fan means wanting our program to succeed no matter what you think we should have done to get there. Just let things play out and stop bitching about Herb, its obviously not changing anything.

because its over, Herb is not coming back...and I don't blame him. There were too many fucking "fans" calling for his head because he didn't get past the sweet sixteen. I mean do you blame him for leaving for more money when he won't have to put up with the criticism from our fans anymore?

he didn't leave for money

he's getting more money

but that's not why he left

no one pissed that he left so much that he was ran out of here

we know he's gone and we're not bitching about him leaving

we're bitching at the reason he left

and I don't blame you, I'm a supporter of Herb too, I am just saying that its getting old. We know why he left and I know that it was fucked up, but like I said, these multiple threads aren't changing anything.

I feel bad for the guy, but I honestly think this is good for him, and maybe it was time for us to explore other options.

Yeah, this guy FitchNCSU summed it up pretty good. Hell, nobody worth a damn would have touched the coaching job here with a ten foot pole if they had any sense. The mess Jim Valvano left behind was disastrous to this school. Les Robinson was glad to get shed of the coaching job here and the only reason we got a coach as good as Herb was because he would have taken any coaching job at a major conference. He is a great coach, it's just that he has to play in a horrific conference. The exact same thing happened to Rick Barnes at Clemson. He made a name for himself and got the hell out of town to a less competitive conference.
Herb was great for NC State. He repaired all the damage that Chris Washburn, Charles Shackleford, Jim Valvano, and (MOSTLY!) Peter Golenbock caused during the 80's and we have been suffering from since. I really appreciate what he did and wish him good luck.
I look forward to our next coach and encourage the players to stay. The next coach will be a good one and he will be walking into a beautiful setup, the ESA, 30,000 students, a respected conference, and an awesome athletic director. I really hope our days of fumbling around when we play the tarholes and the dookys are over.

yea, I mean we have some awesome fans and I would hope that would be attractive to any coach. I just hope they can get past all the negative quotes from fans because most of our fans arent like that.

I'm flying my State flag at half-mast tomorrow

and I'm seriously considering buying some of that paint for your car's windows and writing "EMBARRASSED TO BE A STATE FAN"

...mainly to see how many middle fingers and honks I get (and because I am truly embarrassed at the moment)

^you don't understand. He is the most laid back and quiet person I've met in a long time and fucking intelligent. He is speaking truth. Y'all just have herb's cock up your ass so far that you can't see we did nothing wrong.

ok, i'll bite....

I'm embarrassed because of:

- half of all of State fans are dickheads and have really shown their arrogance and ignorance over the past month or so
- the shit they did to Herb and his family (why torment his daughters?)
- how the true ingrate in most State fans is really coming forward
- how those State fans are being hypocritical (bashing Herb/his family one moment, then wishing him the best when they find out he's leaving)
- etc.

No one bashed Herb's family.

People have to seperate the individual from the coach.

It's time to move on and think about the future.

the fucking chick I hung out with and had a sober conversation with last night was Herb's daughters' babysitter

she said that the kids were getting verbally abused by their classmates and parents of classmates

that's a ridiculous estimate

I'm pretty sure half of all State fans everywhere didn't send Sendek any threatening messages or mess with his daughters

in fact I'm pretty sure that the majority of fans have been behind Herb, it's just an angry and vocal minority that drove him off

it's pretty stupid also to say that State fans are hypocritical, considering you can't cite one person who had anything to do with sending Herb a bad letter, or harassing his daughters or whatever else

^^^

Coaches families get harassed all the time...from high school to the pros, fans don't know where to draw the line. Considering our "redneck contingent"...it doesn't surprise me at all to hear that Herb's wife and kids have been harassed.

Holy crap. I got vertigo reading that post. I realize that you're actually pro-Herb, but this is ridiculous. It's like there's been a polarity shift here. All of the people calling for Herb's head are now telling those that supported him to blindly support whatever shmoe takes his place? This is the same thing Herb's supporters said for years. The fan base is fractured beyond repair. A new coach is only going to intensify the split unless he just runs roughshod over the competition, which I can't realistically see happening. Too many cruel things have been said on both sides for everything to magically heal. Now Herb's supporters will be on the attack for a few years, and you faggots can see what it is like to try to enjoy the game of basketball while half of the fan base is constantly nagging. I'd like to say I'll be a bigger man than that, but I don't think I will.
