Oh glee. fellow herp-ites unite. Its that time again to whore out your reptiles!

this year i'm continuing my hunt for the elusive U. Pietschmanni. cute little buggers.
but, in addition, i'm going to try and pick up another pair of U. Sikorae Sikorae. Can't get enough of the mossies!

if you know of some great deals let me know!

Mike, make sure I just buy what i say i truely need, and not like a dozen other random animals...i am still debating on a couple of snakes, ive got somet that are just damn gorgeous and hard to part with, but with eggs potentially coming, ugh..yeah its difficult....

specifically keep me away from any gray banded kings LOL...

yeah, NOW you want some knobs...bastard

check out a guy named Brant Baker, he was the one who produced my Knoblochi; also there is a guy in North Raleigh that breeds knobs named Paul Weaver http://www.carolinaherps.com

as far as pyros go, there should be a few ppl there....the thing is the spring show is kinda slim as far as colubrids go, usually the fall show is when everything has hatched out

anyone gonna need a 29 gallon tank? i've decided to listen to my incessant dreams about tarantulas and NOT get the communal scorpions (and instead stick to my T's).

no screen lid, but it's going to be too big for any of mine.

^that was a 29 gallon tank i bought from you a while back, right? or is this one of those taller ones? cuz if it's a 30 long like the last one, you can have that adjustable screen top back...it never worked for my geckos, they would slip right under it (always managed to find the buggers though).

still the same old nikon coolpix 3700.

unlike those we know who spend $800+ to take good pics, i do it with a 3.1 MP point n shoot.

those werent even really the best of the best...im making sure those dont leak because at least one is gonna make it to a photo contest to win me 1st place a 3rd time.

i picked up an olympus stylus 600 6 mp..it does ok, but since the release of the Nikon D 200, the D70 has came down...so thats what im purchasing this summer

i cant compete with the type of photos zach, kevin and adrian keep producing, plus slide film is costing me way too much to process...i gotta step up...

^^no, not really. this is actually the first time ive taken any of them outside...it was a beautiful day and perfect for their temperature tolerance. they tend to get a bit jumpier over time the more you try to pose them, but they sit still sometimes. its also the first good pics ive got of some of them in many months.

but i only really got 19 keeper pics out of almost 90, and the sun was still a lil too bright to get the best representation of color...i guess that is what those expensive SLR's are for. (well, theres photoshop too).

nope 3 females - norm, albino, and blizzard.
the male i picked up last year died.

i'll be looking for one at the show. tangerine or bald carrot tail would be great.

what kind of females do you have?

yea i'd like to get into breeding
I have the space and extra cages around.
i've never bred reptiles before...

I'm interested in breeding geckos and beardies

i have a gorgeous female bearded dragon that should be sexually mature soon.. (i paid $$ for her)
and want to find a hypo pastel male for her.

as of next year ill probably be producing quite a few snakes....right now im looking at 2 snake clutches definitely, possibly 3;

if i wanted to drop the money and pick up a couple extra snakes, i would be pushing7 or 8 breeding pairs

geckos to me would just be something to play around with, since leo geckos sexual determination is temperature driven

i will never ever buy another snake from that place.

I bought a Ball Python that had a respiratory infection and it died in less than 2 months.

I bought her as a baby also, not an adult.

ball pythons are something i'd stay away from especially if they were all together in one big tank....they are often imported and sold at these shows in big quantities even though they are captive bred in quantity as well.
ussjbroli had the same problem with a ball python, and im pretty sure he'll attribute it to either being in a vat of other ball pythons (if one is sick, its easily transmitted to all the others...and alot of people dont really care all that much to pay enough attention before they sell them..they are just considering the $$$ they will make) or that it was potentially a wild caught snake

be careful what you buy, do some research before hand and it will make things much easier when picking out an animal..and dont be afraid to ask questions....this gives you an answer or tells you how much the vendor really knows about what he is taking about...

just my 0.02 these days

once you start, you cant stop. its a lot of fun, you never know what exactly will come out in the offspring (really so in leaftails, since theres so much polymorphism). the best part is, once you start getting eggs, you start having something to look forward to beyond just the same animals all the time, and you can end up with offspring that are much better than the adults you started with!

the good thing with leo's is that they're always in demand and will always be sellable. with mine, a lot of people ask me if im selling, but then back down once they hear the prices. i dont think most people realize CB leaftails often go for $200+, fresh imports alone go for $100 to $150 these days (at least for the common species). a lot of people also dont realize that long-term captives also go for a higher price.

but i plan on making some bank at the show! (if i find some nice looking female satanics or spearpoints, ill probably pick some of those up...BUT THATS IT!)

got some better colors out of them today, but they would only hold still long enough for me to get the camera positioned right, as soon as i went to snap the pic they'd move.

They are so cute when they just walk out of the water and still have a little tail... (this is a D. imitator tadpole that morphed today, he's got 7 brothers waiting to walk out as well, although only 3 have front legs atm)

^yea, i think general admission is like $8 or so.

and peyton, yea, we kinda do get an early advantage, but we wanna be at our booth starting at 9am. i guess we'll be able to walk around and get a look at some of the stuff others are carrying before then, since we wont have really too much to set up. theres also a gathering for all VIPs and vendors on friday night. i guess ill be going to that, how about you?

oh yea, and for any of the VIPs, if you get one of those lil bottles of "mistimize" in your tote bag, and you arent gonna use it, let me know. i use that stuff.
