The only reason I'm guying Carlesimo is the possibility of the "nba experienced coach" pitch to recruits.

A friendly rivalry between the coaches is a good thing. The fans and players don't have to like each other. It doesn't matter if the coaches do.

i heard some guy on 850am friday that was discussing the possibility of PJ being in the coaching search. the one real thing against him is the fact that hes been away from the college game since '94, and he won't have as strong recruiting connections any more. otherwise, he should be #1 right now, imo.

The only reason he's been away is because he didn't want to come back for another building/rebuilding project like he had at Seton Hall.

I'd be hugely in favor of having PJ here.

being away from college doesnt bother me
the whole "i will prepare you to play in the nba" angle is much better than what coach k can say ("i will prepare you to win 30 games lose in the final four or sweet sixteen and get 20 minutes a game in the nba")

well, based on what i see on pp, the alumni are probably going to push for whittenburg now that we cant get their god barnes, so it looks like we'll be in the NIT the next few years.
