Don't know if anyone mentioned it or not, but word on the street is that the portion of the controller held in the left hand (with the joystick) also has an accelerometer. So say a fps takes advantage of this. The joystick portion would be moved to look around, while the remote portion would be moved to aim your weapon. Get it?

yeah i think everyone in here got that already. perhaps the million page nintendo thread gave it away. this is mostly just talking about whether or not it'll compete (even though thats not the intention).

Have you played Super Smash Brothers Melee? In my opinion, that is one of the most fun multiplayer games ever made. If they have a new smash and they make it online compatible (which I am sure they would), I think the REV could be worth it just for that.

^ You think?

YOU THINK?

That game would rival Halo for multiplayer supremacy if you could take it online.

"Super Smash Bros. Online
Status: Exclusive, launch
Developer: Nintendo
Source: http://revolution.ign.com/articles/670/670552p1.html

The official sequel to GameCube's top-seller got off to an admittedly slow start when it was announced at May 2005's Electronics Entertainment Expo, according to director Masahiro Sakurai. The videogame veteran, who birthed the series and oversaw the GCN sequel, was in the audience for the announcement, but only found out about the game that day; he was later that week asked by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata to head the project up. Despite a clunky beginning, Sakurai wasted no time to get moving on the anticipated Revolution fighter. The director revealed last year that he had enlisted the services of a major company to help with the development of the title and that a new Tokyo office was being formed to accommodate a staff of 50-plus people, including Smash Bros. veterans.

Super Smash Bros. Online for Revolution is expected to remain true to its predecessor and simultaneously bring a number of innovations to the table. The title will feature both more fighting characters than ever before and confirmed Wi-Fi play over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The big question is, how will it use Revolution's free-hand style controller, which has not yet proven to be a fighter-friendly device?

In the past, Nintendo producers like Shigeru Miyamoto have speculated about the prospect of creating software featuring Mushroom Kingdom characters and mascots like Sonic the Hedgehog. If any game can do it, it'll be this one.

Nintendo has said Super Smash Bros. Online will be a Revolution launch title. We expect it to be fully playable at May's E3 show in Los Angeles."

Already confirmed to be an online launch title.

I wasn't either at first but it grew on me. I love infection, the game w/ the skeletons like Zombies for halo 2.

u should get Oblivion or GR:AW, I hear those are the heat.

I know everyone gets their own opinion and all...but if you think madden is THE premier game...well, maybe you should just keep that sort of thing to yourself.

Madden will eventually be on all three of the new systems and each version will be indistinguishable from the others. I doesn't mean shit except another bullet point to pull in sports fans.

most likely

xbox also sold like fossilized cow patties in Japan, not really a good indicator of the US market, but the supply issues will kill it hard and fast if they don't get them fixed before Nintendo and Sony get out the door...

we'll see. i gotta say though, sometimes keeping it simple and traditional isnt a bad thing. the 360 did a good job of adding new things while keeping/improving the old controller.

I've never understood the overwhelming popularity of SSBM. The game is a lot of fun, but I never thought it'd be something to play in a tournament or the best-selling GC game.

Even if the new control scheme for the REV is really bad, they have already said that they will have a regular controller plug in so you can play the games like you regularly would.

"Wide assortments of peripherals are possible, but thus far Nintendo has only officially confirmed two of them. The first is an analog stick/trigger unit that Nintendo has dubbed the "nunchuck-style controller." The second is a conventional controller cradle/shell. Nintendo has also indicated that it might like to explore other expansions. It used Donkey Kong style bongos and a light gun as examples."

Nintendo has been vocal about the shell attachment since they unveiled the controller.

and metroid. the only reason i bought a gamecube was for metroid prime (was worth it) and the wind waker. got a few other good games out of it too though, so its all good.

at the same time though, the only reason i own a playstation and a ps2 was for final fantasy series. the majority (99%) of the games i played on playstation were squaresoft/kanomi/whatever rpgs, and the only games i play on PS2 are onimusha1/2/3/4, god of war, and similar games.

i'll keep buying nintendo products as long as they keep making zelda/metroid titles, as well as sony products as long as squaresoft keeps things up. i havn't bought an Xbox yet because there hasn't been a game to draw me to the system. halo's just a shooter, i'd rather play those on pc anyhow.

Okay my main point with this thread was to say that Nintendo could grab back a huge amount of market share this generation and with Sony's E3 anouncement that the lowest PS3 would be $500 it just makes me more confident that even with the lame Wii name that they'll be able to grab back a huge part of the market.

Its not like youll have to pay the price of home PC. For a kick ass gaming console under 200 w/ an innovative controller, they can called it whatever they want.

^which is exactly why it will probably be optional for many games, zelda is a dual release, meaning you shouldnt NEED to utilize the Wii Stick unless you feel like it.
