You have got to be out of your mind this season is so much better than last seaon
the Earp characters are just getting developed and you have to also understand the timeline they are working.

finally caught up! yeah, when I was watching the first season a friend of mine (who had seen up to s2) said that Al will grow on you, and I had trouble believing it, but it's true. Al became more important that Bullock to me
and what an awesome season this has turned out to be! I'd have to say it's the best so far 8/18/2006 2:23:38 AM |

I actually just made the comment last night that I thought the dialog was much better it does seem a little faster, and there was one time I got a little lost in one of the last few eps, but it wasn't terribly important.
Quote : | "Wyatt: Are you doubting my brothers word? (regarding him picking up the tools in the shop) Bullock: Well come remove them and I will cease to doubt your ability to do so" |
Quote : | "Dan: I'd like to get going before it gets dark (to go to hire guns) Al: If we need to go it's already dark" |
Quote : | "Wyatt throws dice, rolls a 6 Leon: 6! The point is 6. Wyatt and Cy talk, Wyatt says in a sly way he's not puttin down his shootin irons Wyatt rolls 8 Leon: 8! The point is 6. Cy: Pay the man, Leon Wyatt: But I didn't make my point Cy: You did to me [in conversation] " |
the quotes lose a lot of their luster when taken out of context, but those were some of my favorite moments]8/18/2006 5:20:02 PM |

yeah, good episode I totally didn't see what happened to Ellsworth coming. I was only half paying attention when he was talking to the dog and the all the sudden that thing which happened happened and I had to rewind it and watch it again 8/22/2006 2:42:41 AM |

Shit got REAL, son!
^ Earlier in the episode Heart checked with his goons to make sure they knew which tent to go into. I was like "Tent, wtf, is Heart running up on some teepees?" And then when they went to Ellsworth in the tent I starting shouting at the TV in a vain attempt to save him. 8/22/2006 1:44:07 PM |

I just got finished watching the last episode.
What an incredibly dull ending for an amazing show. Seriously, it deserved better. I hope that HBO at least does a mini-series/movie or something. It's doubtful, but...it deserved better. 8/29/2006 12:30:15 AM |

Spoilers for those who haven't finished the season, and possible other spoilers if the show ever goes on and you aren't familiar with the history:
A few months ago I found out that the real Deadwood burned to the ground in 1877, the year in which season 3 takes place, and although I hated to know the ending, it was neat to see all the foreshadowing. If you go back and watch the season with this in mind, they're almost beating you over the head with it. Shots are framed with torches in the foreground, there is regular mention of the lack of a fire cheif, and even a candidacy for sheriff based on this matter. When Tom bought the fire engine in the last episode, I was like FUCKING YEAHHHHH, IT'S GONNA HAPPEN!! The shot of the wooden box just screamed out "Irony!" when it would later, I was sure, set aflame, engine still inside.
A confrontation between the townsfolk and Hearst leads to a final showdown between Hearst and Swearengen. While their men do battle outside, Hearst draws a gun and Swearengen his blade. Swearengen is shot, Hearst is stabbed, both injured but not yet dying. In the commotion, a lamp gets knocked to the ground, setting the Gem ablaze. The fire spreads and the whole town goes up in smoke.
Hearst is skirted away, abandons the town, having learned it is not economically sound to fuck with the people of Deadwood. Swearengen lives to fight another die, and, for what it's worth, gets murdered, destitute, nearly 20 years later while trying to jump on a train.
I was ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SURE this was what was going to happen.
Fucking HBO. 8/29/2006 12:56:52 AM |

jon, i have kept up with the history and read about deadwood burning down also.
if you remember a few episodes back, i think it was Hearst that mentions that he is or wants to burn deadwood to the ground
and didnt Swearengen also tell Jack Langrish something about how he will burn deadwood to the ground before he lets Hearst take over or something like that???? 8/30/2006 2:21:29 PM |

as i understand it HBO is going to do two tv movies to wrap up the loose ends
although i had hoped that they would pull a six feet under and show everyone dropping dead 9/1/2006 3:53:32 PM |
