bump for page 2

...and bump this if pistons win it all. Put "one ring to rule them all" on there with Lowe's face and a block S.

I agree. Harris can pretty much say to our recruits, "hey guys, all is well." One thing I'd like to note: sure, the NBA drafts and doesn't recruit like college. But when 'the show' was getting high schoolers they definitely set up a lot of high school and AAU connections. Remember, Div1 bball has rules about contacting recruits but the NBA doesn't. Just sayin'.

did you hear those guys on tnt during the game talkin about lowe and how he is going to NC State, they had great things to say about him, I really liked how Ben Wallace was giving him mad props and thanking him for the defensive player of the year award, said he couldn't have done it w/o lowe

the only thing i was really worried about was the fact that he has no college coaching experience (just like everyone else), because all of his former players seem to have really enjoyed him, but damn if his staff isnt reassuring

^^true but his assistant coaching staff might turn out to be one of the best in the nation as far as head coaching experience, and he can play the "I know what it takes to make it in the NBA" card which helps to recruit the NBA caliber players we need...also...say what you want about Amato...but one thing Amato ALWAYS had over Chuck is that Amato went to State and played for State...Lowe will bring more fire and enthusiasm to the program, which doesn't directly translate to winning games, but its what the fanbase wants and what can motivate the players to take it up an extra notch in crunch time

^amato over herb

but yeah...I keep liking this move for Lowe more an more as time goes on. Doyel is the only person so far that has written anything negative about it.....or I missed something. Everyone else is writing nice articles about us and him for once.

People on the first page of this thread kept saying how Detroit should lose do Lowe can start recruiting.......

Isnt this a recruiting dead period anyway?????

I mean we're behind the 8 ball in the first place, but I dont think we can fall more or gain any ground in the next month or so. Wright is not close to making a decision anyway, so Lowe will have plenty of time to recruit him. We'll be fine...we need to focus more on Ced staying anyway.

That's a damn good idea. Don't forget that he's gonna have mad connections b/c of his years in the NBA... not to say he's gonna actually pull Ben Wallace recruiting Simmons, but it's just another thing on his resume that is gonna help him be a good coach

If Lowe were to go around talking to recruits now, would that be a recruiting violation?

I know he has to pass the test before he talks to recruits, but I dont and neither do you, because we arent representatives of NCST.

Neither is Lowe. How can NCST be held in violation when he isnt even our coach yet?

you know what would be funny as hell... Rasheed coming to a State game wearing a State jersey... just cuz Lowe invited him...

i'd laugh my ass off... but our fans would probably act uptight about it...

even if rasheed did rock the NC State Jersey, I HIGHLY DOUBT HE WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO WEAR IT TO A GAME, he would lose all his UNC support in a heartbeat, thats hard to do all for an assistant coach

^^if he did something like that, he's immediately become one of my favorite plays. i mean i hate the guy now, but if he could sell out the holes than he can buy me.

Does anyone know how many, if any, head college coaches have both a NCAA national championship ring AND a NBA championship?

after listening to sid's interview and then with creds like his, i have no doubts in his recruiting ability. Go ahead and quote me on this, within 3 years we will be consistently recruiting top 10 classes.

the heat need to seal this up. an NBA right is going to be worth, maybe, this summer of recruiting. Afterwards, it'll pretty much be the results Lowe produces on the court.

i take it you meant an NBA 'ring' is going to be worth...but i must disagree...an NBA ring is not just something that will work for one year...its not like some recruit down the road is gonna ask lowe "so, when did you win an nba title" and lowe will say "2 seasons ago" and the kid will be like "fuck that thats too long ago"

So much for Lowe getting a NBA championship ring.
