I just got off birth control 3 months ago after being on for 2 years.......it was easier then i thought it would be. I didnt experience any weird hormonal changes like mood swings and the such. I have also substancially noticed an increase in my sex drive since i stoped taking the pill 5/25/2006 2:33:14 PM |

The pill has always decreased my sex drive. I went off of it once and definitely noticed a difference for the better. I talked to my OBGYN about it and she suggested the NUVA ring (because I didn't want my husband to have to keep using condoms). The ring so far has decreased my sex drive slightly, but not nearly as much as the pill did. Because of the way that the hormones are absorbed into your body, the NUVA ring is one of the lowest dosages of hormonal BC that you can find, so it is least likely to cause side-effects and if it does, they will most likely to affect you less (this comes straight from my OBGYN). 5/25/2006 2:56:28 PM |

i think theres a slight degree in the way sex drive will change for everyone, cause the pills prevent eggs from ovulating by giving you synthetic hormones of estrogen and progestin thus altering your sex drive 5/26/2006 8:19:52 AM |

I'm on Yasmin now and it doesn't have any weird side effects. I've been taking it for about 10 months after I was on regular generic orthotricyclen. That stuff really fucked me up. During two two months I was on it (first two months of school ironically), I lost 17 lbs (if you only weighed 125 to being with, that's a lot) and it made me ridiculously nauseous. I used to take it in the mornings right when I woke up, and would be running out of my Calc class in Harrelson to go throw up. Which sucked, because the only women's bathroom is on the third floor. And my calc class was on the first floor.
Anyways, yes, Yasmin is great. The only thing I have noticed is that it doesn't prevent cramps (at least for me) as much as my Ortho-Lo and regular Ortho did. I haven't gained weight and I'm not breaking out or less horny or anything. 5/26/2006 11:35:00 AM |

I have tried Ortho, Nuva, the patch, Alesse, and then I got off of it, and I stopped being nauseous and I started wanting sex again, then someone suggested Yasmin, so I started taking it and i've never been so nauseous in my life...so, really everyone is different and what works for someone may not work for you...and then some people aren't affected at all...lucky asses... 5/26/2006 9:02:09 PM |

^My bf wasn't swayed by the increased sex drive thing. We tried a condom and he acted like he was dying. 5/26/2006 9:27:45 PM |

some BCs will make you nauseous if you do take it in the morning.... if thats the case, try taking it at night. that was a recommedation made to me. I take mine at night and I have an alarm on my cell phone to remind me since my cell stays with me all the time. its effective for me. 5/27/2006 8:57:31 PM |

I also take mine at night, a few hours before bed, so that I won't forget and can take it at the same time every night. However, it can be interruptive depending on what I am doing. 5/27/2006 9:28:59 PM |

I used to get the depo shot but I have fibromyalgia and it made my joint pain worse so they took me off. I was on for about a year and the first few months i had some spotting but was never bad. Afterwards I switched to Seasonal because I got so used to the 3 month cycle but it was very $$, about $150 for 3 months worth. Now Ive had to sadly go to a monthly cycle and I feel like I always having my period . 6/1/2006 10:39:34 AM |

Funny how that works. I had the exact opposite effect. Yasmin just made me completely crazy for the one month that I tried it! I was nauseous, bloated, cramping, moody, had the sorest boobs ever that grew a full cup size in 2 weeks, and I pretty much felt like a pregnant woman all day...I lost 5lbs in 2 weeks (and thats a lot for a small girl like me). So the doc switched me to Lo-Estrin, which is working perfectly fine now. My $0.02 for what it's worth
