You do know about the substance abuse and performance enhancing drug problems in Hockey, right? Even things as simple as sudafed.

how come espn didnt forcefeed this shit down our throats like they did the 50 at bats with no homers they did when he was sitting on 714? maybe cause nobody gives a shit? maybe cause Albert Pujols is Bonds' daddy, uncle, grandfather and lord and savior?

No, not steroids specifically. Abuse of drugs like sudafed and other doping methods are far worse.

i dont think steroids has that much to do with hitting homeruns... Bonds is an amazing hitter.... he makes contact in the right place with the right timing...

if the strongest man in the world can't hit major league pitching, than what does strength matter...

as far as i am concerned, the man can hit -- he deserves this honor...

Giambi this season is a perfect example of how steroids dont make much of a difference...

and this post proves my point exactly... thanks mr. TP

the thing about steroids isn't the added strength, its the ability it gives you to quickly recover from injury

you don't hit 715 homeruns simply because you have a size 36 head

you hit 715 homeruns by staying healthy

no doubt bonds is an incredible player, maybe one of the best ever

but he might not have lasted this long if it weren't for steroids

^ that is also an excellent point...

an indication of your arguement could be the obvious deterioration of Bonds' body so quickly this season...

but at the same time, there are still some guys that are in their early 40's playing... granted, they aren't hitting bombs

the whole thing is unfortunate, but in a few years, this will all be moot when Pujols passes Mr. Aaron and Bonds is an afterthought...

obviously none of us can take steroids and step into the MLB batting box and start cracking homers

Bonds is a great hitter and steroids, to my knowledge, dont improve your hand-eye coordination

but you're seriously a fucking idiot if you dont think steroids add strength, which takes a good hitter, and allows him to hit the ball farther, leading to more homeruns

not really, go look at Babe Ruth's home run totals... a string of 40's, then a 20, then a 6 in this last season...

Ruth had left and right field lines of between 260 and 290 feet for his entire career. Hell, at times he had lines that hit about 250 feet. These distance advantages (sometimes as much as 70' shorter than most ballparks) are much stronger than the added strength of steroid-induced muscle increase and even stronger than the mile-high effect in Coors. He never faced a 90mph slider either.

Oh, please. Its not like fat players was the norm in his era... he let himself go and it has nothing to do with access to facilities, he just chose to access hot dog stands.

so... what's your point?

he was an incredible hitter in spite of the fact that he was a fat piece of shit

imagine what he could have been with the technology of today

imagine what you could be with the ability to read and comprehend

I comprehend just fine, its your inability to string together two logically ordered points that makes this discussion fail. Ruth wouldn't have benefited from the advanced training facilities and regiments of today... heck, there is a good chance he ended up like a David Wells: a waste of talent because he couldn't take care of himself. He most definitely was an incredible hitter, I was simply pointing out that his homerun numbers are inflated due to the ballparks of his day. I really wish Ruth had taken an athletic approach to the game so we could see just how special he could possibly be.

No fucking shit, Sherlock. Unlike you, I can comprehend points people are trying to make, even when being sarcastic. The sentiment you convey in your sarcasm is exactly what I'm talking about when I say you don't get it...

BTW, Willie Mays and Gaylord Perry are cheaters and still in the Hall of Fame with no asterisks, not sure if you were aware of that.
BTW, Bonds is one of the 5 greatest players in the history of baseball, even without any steroid-infalted homerun numbers. I know you lack the ability to see beyond your one-liner tripe, but some day when you take the time to actually look at the numbers throughout history just maybe you will get it.... maybe.

SWEET MOTHER OF JESUS! I'm not defending his use of steroids! I am pointing out fallacies in peoples remarks, inadequacies in their reasoning, hypocrisy in the praise/condemnation of certain players, and a general lack of reading comprehension and common sense.
