how bout the fact that the chick's chest would get super huge if you positioned her right in front of the closet in the mansion. thats the coolest secret ever.

but overall....in eternal darkness....the cathedral is just the coolest shit....the inquisition, all that jaz....plus you get to hack your old character up .... and the names of the magic's sys. symbols is just plain scary on its own

yea....sanity effects in the mansion are fucking great -- bathtub to bleeding walls to the paintings to flying books to the knocking on the front door. if you have a good speaker setup its ungodly.

damn, i forgot all about the knocking and the paintings. the phone calls too, man. i hated playing that shit when dead people would be calling me. do you remember the level where your character slowly decomposes throughout? that shit was nuts

yea....thats the one i was thinking of.

many in level sanity effects were great -- like everyone turning into super monsters and killing you....or you shrinking or your head exploding

i think i had one once where i entered a room and i was on the ceiling.

i also hated that creepy skull with the eyes whenever you got a game over

I played & beat Uninvited along with the rest of the Kemco trilogy. That game was great.

I'm sure that doesn't surprise you since you played in my NES thread.

doom 3, system shock 2, resident evil remake.. eternal darkness was a great game. i went through it 4 times. it was creepy, but didn't really scare me aside from the bathtub scene. oh and the blue screen of death. that straight up pissed me off when i saw it for the first time.

I know there was a game back in the day called Sanitarium that was based in a mental institution. Dunno if it's the game you're thinking of or not.

Yeah the spell book in itself was just creepy. Like when you would cast a spell and they symbols would glow in the ground and the voice would say them.

^^Yeah that one that threw the "whipping" head crabs, they made that whipping sound and weren't the same as the regular head crabs.

I think I might have to dust Eternal Darkness off this summer once I finish Neverwinter Nights.

I might have to finish Doom 3. I started playing it, but it didn't really do it for me. Guess I didn't hit the meat and potatoes yet.

F.E.A.R
System Shock II (it's the sound that does it for this game. the sound designers were freaking genius. that it was still scary as hell despite the relatively shitty graphics never ceases to amaze me.)
Call of Cthulu (scary, and it doesn't hurt the fear aspect that the game can be hard as hell at times too.)

Yeah, this sounds just like Sanitarium. I didn't think it was frightening at all, but the story was great.
