i don't see what the big deal is about the bandwagon fans...
most fans start as bandwagon fans of one form or another, espcially for a team that doesn't have a long history...

get over it and hope that maybe 20% of the bandwagoners decide to stick around afterward

There's no problem with bandwagoning in general, as it's usually well-intentioned and does help build the fanbase over time. The problem comes with fairweather bandwagon fans who act like they're fucking Mo' Cheese superfans for two weeks every four years and can't name any players.

I think the floods sort of tore down any momentum for something like this. It kinda sucks.

Imma about to go get MAD BEER though.

Win or lose, a big celebration is planned for the Carolina Hurricanes. If the ‘Canes bring home the Stanley Cup, the world will be watching. But because of all the downtown construction, it's likely they won't see the heart of the city."

Ha. I find that fitting. After game 2 they had local downtown businesses on the news saying that they hoped that the Hurricanes lost at least one game to bring the series back home - because home games bring them more money and it would be nice to see them win at home. Some even went on to say that they hoped that the series came down to 7 games - all for the love of the business it would bring them. I didn't think Raleigh deserved it at that point.

How fitting though, that the celebration crowds won't be bringing them as much business as they would have otherwise gotten had Fayetteville Street been up and operational.
