Sort of off topic but Citra wtf? Such a random thing to use for that image; that stuff went off the market like 6 years ago.

what the fuck do you care??? getting on my nerves everybody criticizing the damn turf. Really, has it ever been anything less than flawless when gameday comes around, what the hell does it matter what it looks like mid-July!

don't get your panties in a wad

Twas just a comment. I have dealt with a lot of turf at golf courses and it has never taken that long to grow some grass, especially in the summer. And it isn't like they have to get it to regrow everywhere. Just the areas that were painted and up the middle.

And actually . . . the grass isn't always flawless on gameday. Maybe it is almost flawless at the beginning of the season, but def not as the season wears on. By the end of hte season most of the crap that is painted is just dirt.

turf . . . grass . . . green stuff . . . monocotyledonous green plants . . . whatever the hell you want to call it

and that wasn't to say that I am an expert in it or know more about it than the people who take care of the field at carter-finley.

the point was that it doesn't take that long to get growth in bald spots that big. and I'm not talking about filling it in completely cause that doesn't happen overnight. But plugging it and getting some sparse growth to take only takes a little while.

I didn't realize that they were taking up the bleachers. Are they cleaning or something? Maybe repairing concrete?

this is just crap, not even close to true, there is no fucking painted dirt out there, unless there was a heavy rain game, in which case as long as we did not have back to back home games they would just sod it in

i have been on the field twice towards the end of the season, and both times it was fucking flawless

the areas you are seeing on those pics are where the paint was, and my point was, that they have a bunch of time, and plenty of resources for the turf, if they wanted to work on those areas now they would be doing it, i am sure they are just waiting for the proper time to do what they need to do, nobody gets points for turf in july

Probably both. Every off season I've been here I've remembered seeing the bleachers taken up.

they announced that they are no longer selling any season tickets. i guess that means they sold out of them. you can probably still find some single game tickets that will go on sale when other teams don't sell their allotment.

I wonder how big Carter-Finley could be if we just went all out with expansion. I think 80,000 would be the most we could do before it gets too steep around the bowl.

^seems that if you bowl in both endzones, and add a mirror image for vaughn towers it could be close to 85-90k

just a guess though

where you are wrong is that it does take a long time. bermudagrass ( a warm season grass) will not take over until the perennial rye ( a cool season grass) is sprayed out or is taken out naturally (excessive heat). bermuda grows very quickly, but must have no competition from other grasses to fill in as quickly as possible. the point being, sometimes if the grass cant naturally transition and must be sprayed out it leaves a ton of bare spots. whats the point of plugging when the field isnt even in use, and whats the point of plugging when they have this thing called sod. know your shit before you bitch and moan

and no i dont work the grounds there.

unless they expanded the student section, with the elimination of the grass and the relocation of the band, i would think there would be less.

The diagram shown on the countdown to app st game makes it seem like there should be more student seating...

its on the first pg of that thread, wont let me copy it for some reason

Well, if you look at the new section, the entire lower portion of the new section is going to be student seating as bleachers....so thats just bigger than the bands section but I dont think we are losing any student seating. Plus, nobody will be missing the games this year just because they got hill tickets...so thats good.

For what it's worth, my wife attended the WOW football clinic this past weekend and they were re-sodding the areas where the letters are.

other than that she said it was looking great and they were installing the armrests that the new seats will be attached to in the NEZ... now if i can just get off work for the season opener....

a guy who is a contractor working onsite with the NEZ project came onto PP and gave a little insight into the NEZ.

this is what he said first:
Quote :
" I meant to post on this topic earlier, but I will add my 2 cents. I am one of the contractors working onsite.

1. The comments about the field conditions have been corrected as most had said they would. They placed sod in all the bad spots on Monday afternoon. The field looks great.

2. The video scoreboards are not in place and from what I can tell have not been started.

3. As you can see in the photos the seat install has begun.

4. The locker room area is still pretty rough, but is painted and fit up material is arriving daily.

Lots of progress is being made in the past week, as the weather has been good. Ill try to make it a point to update you guys."

this is what he said in his next post (the answer he is giving is in response to " Is everything on schedule to be finished by start of the season, including the plaza area?":

Quote :
"I dont think it is on schedule, but I believe it will be done in time. Progress as it nears completion is fun to watch, as it all comes together.

The visitors lockers are being installed, lots of painting inside the structure. The seat frames are now all installed outside and the plaza is really looking better. Perm. fencing is going up around plaza.

One funny thing I noticed today - the entire bottom is painted that blue / gray color that you see everwhere; except the hallway that goes from where the visitors bus unloading to their locker room. Its State RED."

The people who called out the gender/sexual orientation bullshit on the pink locker room are full of shit. Pink is the most relaxing color and it soothes the nerves while red stimulates people into passion. Blue is used to calm someone and help them with concentration. A study was done in a weightroom where football players would lift each day in a different weightroom for a month. One group of players lifted in a weightroom surrounded by blue paint while the other group lifted in a room with all red.

The group in the blue weightroom was able to max out the highest on the bench and other exercises because they were more relaxed and focused. The group in the red weightroom were more agitated and nervous.
