No, but if you think the program is in shambles, i'm sorry, but you just don't know what you're talking about.

Simmons - gone
Werner - gone
Grant - who knows"

at least good players come/want to come here, that's much better than 10 or 11 years ago.

...well, they wanted to when herb was our coach.

the jury is still out on Lowe. I think the recruits we had backing out shows that they weren't coming here because of the school.

not when he first came in.

my point was that herb got the program back to a point where good players actually saw a benefit to coming here

They aren't following Herb to ASU either.

^good pt

and only one recruit has backed out for sure. and from the article, it looks like Lowe is still going to try to talk him out of it.

I didn't want Herb to leave - and I still wish he was here.

Maybe I wasn't gungho on the style of play, but it won games and had some great recruits thinking about coming here (Wright among others). Not to mention I feel like it was one of the cleanest programs in the NCAA.

Discounting Lowe's situation and expecting results in the first third of the season is stupid.
It's going to take time for the transition to be successful - maybe not the same amount of time Herb was given, but to start expecting results immediately only sets the program up for failure.

that couldn't have anything to do with the fact they're from NJ and NY and Arizona is a world away, could it?

I don't know what his list looks like now...but McMillan was seriously considering ASU at least a month ago. And I'm pretty sure that I read that Chris Wright would have looked at ASU if it wasn't so far away.

So take that for what its worth.

no shit.....whos to say that Lowe won't be the same way? im not fluffing herb and im not bashing lowe....im just pointing out the good players you are talking about werent coming here because its nc state...they were coming here to play for herb's system.

thats a valid point, but i think its comparing apples and oranges. my point was simply that they weren't coming here because of the name "nc state"...otherwise they wouldnt have left. they liked herbs program here....he hasnt established his program at arizona yet, and from our experiences, we know it will take a few years to get it up and running. if people were simply coming here to play for the name "nc state", they wouldnt care what system/program was in place.

i guess what im trying to say is that its too early to say "at least good players come/want to come here".

WE ALL GO TO NORTH CAROLINA

seriously, if anyone understands what it means to leave the "state" off of a team's name, it's us

/nitpick

Anyway... I'm glad to see that Lowe got his degree and is ready to make some things happen with this team. It won't all come together this season, but if we give him 2-3 years to get some guys that HE likes into the program, then we can have a better barometer for how well he will do.

saw lowe, larry harris and monty towe at sammy's yesterday before the canes game, larry harris was a pretty cool guy, lowe seemed pre-occupied (understandably)

when herb took over the program was a waste, and after 5 years with Herb in the realms it was still a waste. then he finally rounded up enough talent to underachieve his way to the upper half of the ACC.
