The Xbox 360 version is completely different. It is one of the most innovative hockey games in many many years. What people are not going to realize (because EA certainly isn't going to publicize it) is that the Xbox 360 version is the only one with the next-gen changes. All other versions (Xbox, PS2, PC) are essentialy NHL 06 with a few gameplay improves and a couple new features.

so after extensive playing of both demos, nhl 2k7 feels the same as last years and in the short demo period you can play, i won 5-0. nhl 07 i think is way cooler and plays better and i like the new control scheme...only wish you could play a period in the demo instead of just a shootout.

yeah, read the review and it sounds good to me, glad the full game pulled through and it wasnt just a cool demo...

to sum it up...EA's NHL 07

Quote :
"NHL 07 is a great hockey game, pure and simple. When you receive a pass in the slot, you feel the same rush of adrenaline that a star center feels. As you wind up a wrister, you know the only thing that can stop you is a great save from the goalie. With the dynamic puck physics, rebounds and deflections can change the course of a game. On a breakaway, you no longer wait for a teammate to try for a one-timer. You triple-deke and go top shelf. You beat the goalie. You feel it. Hockey has been waiting for this kind of innovation for a long time.

Visually, the animations at times can be a bit chunky, but the replays and cutscenes are absolutely gorgeous, the best we've seen yet in a sports title on the 360. The commentary is solid, yet a bit repetitive. The sound effects like player chatter, the crowd and especially the puck hitting the post suck you right on to the rink and make for an immersive hockey experience. You'll blow through ten games at a time, look up and wonder where the time went.

The Dynasty mode is deep and fun, including a player-development system in the minors and concession prices. EA's online mode is still terribly thin. At this point, sports gamers expect online leagues and online seasons. Ranked and unranked matches suffice, but they don't cut the mustard. On the ice, however, NHL 07 represents the first truly next-generation gameplay innovation."

Current-gen (PC, Xbox, PS2) review from IGN

Quote :
"But even though NHL 07 looks and feels nearly identical to NHL 06, it remains a fun hockey game, if a bit on the arcade side."

8.0/10 which is kind of surprising to me

Can someone please tell me what type of horn they put in the game for when you score? Because if its that whimpy siren I heard in the NHL2k7 demo, I'm going to be pretty upset.

I'm just so used to that freighter horn in the RBC center I'd be unhappy if at least an attempt wasn't made at it and other arena's awesomeness.

^ same.. i was hoping one of the games would even go as far as to play goal celebrations and stuff like the red stripe around the arena when we score.. but i don't know if it'll be different in the full game and i haven't tried 2k7 demo yet

IGN gave 2K7 a 8.9

i like the online options a lot better for 2K7, along with the cinematic gameplay

also there are a bunch of minigames

it looks like it boils down to the new control scheme (07) or good ole one timers (2K7)

2k6 felt arcadish...even though we played on hard difficulties and stuff, it was still one timers and scores like 8-7...i thing the redefined controls sounds promising and that it will actually take skill to be good...

so reviews of nhl 2k7 arent all that hot, it is a little bit more in depth but in terms of gameplay its the same as 2k6...i think sites reviewing nhl 07 are giving it higher remarks saying its a next gen hockey vs. a xbox 1.5 port...id like to play nhl 07 first though before purchasing

anyone pick up either and for what system?

In my dynasty for 07, when the Canes played the Penguins the first time I made sure I beat the hell out of Orpik. I got a 5 minute major for slashing and a game misconduct, but it was well worth his broken arm.

^^is that ea's nhl 07 on xbox 360? that sounds pretty cool if youre being honest that you can get in a fight and break someone's arm and get a game misconduct...not that i dont believe you but i wouldnt think ea would make a game that depth, hah

Yea it is on 360, no I didn't get in a fight. The "Y" button is the slash button and I did it repeatedly to him until I got called for it ( 5 minute major and a gamer), and it broke his arm.

that sounds like a good idea considering you have to play an 82 game season...

I've played a couple games on the current-gen version (PC specifically) and I'm really liking it so far. As expected, the presentation and graphics are exactly the same as NHL 06, and there are a lot of things that will need to be fixed (and they will be by mods; that's the good thing about the PC version), but the gameplay seems to have improved dramatically. The CPU plays much smarter and much tighter defensively, and the goalies don't go flopping around at the slightest move.

when you start a dynasty in nhl 07 with the canes, they raise the banner in the first game! pretty cool stuff...
