stevenson was hurting him i agree, but i wouldnt go so far as to say yves was getting "beat to death" that was an EXTREMELY bloody fight, and i'd say the best fight of the night, i wish it could have gone on further

haha yea, except i like tito, hes a great fighter

but i definitely wanted shamrock to win, but as soon as tito won i was just like "God Tito i cant weight til Chuck gets his hands on you" I saw that Chuck had that saaame look on his face that was awesome

Tito tends to have a history of getting PWNT in his losses, i mean Frank Shamrock, Couture, and Liddell

im kinda torn between whether i think Ken should retire or not...i sure as hell dont want him goin out like this, but then again he might not have much of a choice but to at least leave the UFC particularly if they offer him a less than substantial contract...i dont think they will see him as ppv material anymore..so he could fight elsewhere but i mean really..hes 42 and he has a great stable of athletes training under him

but to leave like this

what do you think?

Looks like Chuck vs. Wanderlei will happen before Tito gets a shot. Assuming he gets past Babalu, which is a HUGE assumption to make.

Tito looks very good tonight. He was dominant in the stand up with his muy thai, and those elbows that stopped the fight were brutal.

Hopefully the next HW fight for Silvia will be against Monson, that would be an interesting matchup. Mir had maybe the least impressive victory I've ever seen tonight, he needs to just retire if he's going to keep showing up in that kind of shape.

theres a good chance the Chuck/Wanderlei fight wont happen, because Wanderlei has a brutal Pride tournament right before it too...but man i hope it does

Also, Wanderlei has a three-fight deal with UFC so maybe we can see him get a crack at Tito

slap in the face to Sobral, but if chuck loses it wont change the plans too much because you can still squeeze the fight in

Tim Sylvia called out Fedor...LOL

but Dana White says that chances are 0 that there will be another Pride v.s. UFC because of rules complications and what not

but he says he is working on getting alot of the Pride fighters into a UFC contract agreement

^dudes he needs to bring over to UFC

Quinton Jackson: so that he can beat the living shit out of Chuck Liddell for the 3rd time

The New York badass: kid has gotten his skills alot better since he left ufc! I want to see him "get his face back".

vandeli sylva I know i probably spelled his name wrong, or got it backwards or something. But his nickname is the "Axe Murderer". Motherfucker fights like he's from another planet!!I would love to see him destroy UFC.

Royce Gracies big brother I dont know his name at all, but I do know that he is a gracie and he weighs about 220 + pounds. I watched him fight and he was just like Royce but bigger and stronger.

I want Sylvia to put the title up against Jeff 'The Snowman' Monson - he has been mowing through the field and no doubt in my mind he will dominate Sylvia.

Then I want to see Monson v Randleman

^yeah, he really beat the life out of chuck twice, I was stunned!!! him and wanderlei fights were pretty close, he just gave out of wind. That wanderlei guy just dosnt get tired. He threw almost 100 knees' the last time they faught. It was funny b/c Rampage called him out the last time. I think he could beat wanderlei if he was more prepared. He started out winning, but wanderlei's stamina is un godly.

http://www.youtube.com/results?search=quinton+rampage+jackson&search_type=search_videos&search=Search

I think this is the first time they met. The second came in 2005. In a Pride v UFC. They faught in an octagon. So chucky couldn't run or use the ropes to evade those massive brutal rampage slams.

I dont like Wanderlei because he beat my favorite guy Sakuraba three times- I dont know enough about MMA to make an educated guess but if I had to guess right now I would say that Wanderlei will beat Chuck in November. Any thoughts on this upcoming fight? It is a way off but i was wondering what those who know about this stuff thought about the match up. how will it go?

From what I understand, Chuck got beat by Rampage TWICE (i thought it was only one fight between them, the one in PRIDE ring, but they also fought in the octagon) and Wanderlei whips Jackson's ass on the regular

but MMA is no A+B=C kinda deal, but Pride fighters definite seem to have the advantage against UFCers

Wanderlei is a striker with atrocious knees, and Chuck is a striker...Wanderlei cant use knees on a downed opponent as he could in PRIDE

I think it is a good Strikes v.s. Strikes matchup, i cant call a winner but if I were gonna place money on it, it take a Liddell KO if it gets past round 2, this fight WILL have a KO and I think it will go the distance...

and if Wanderlei gets that belt, you can Dana will throw Tito at him, I think Tito has a better chance of beating him than chuck, because Tito's takedowns are god like and nearly indefensible, which in my opinion is the key to beating a striker such as vanderlei...and tito wont gas during the fight like chuck has the potential to because of the lay off hes had

(this is all only valid if Liddell still has the belt after Sobral, apparently the kid is no slouch and a submission expert...im no expert either but this is an exciting time for MMA)

I don't like Chuck. Its like, he thinks he's the man (which he is in UFC) but outside of that he's nothing. After seein him get his ass kicked constantly, its hard for me to swallow him being a solid champion. He only has a 1 hitter quitter, everytime he's threatened he reaches for the ropes, fence to evade a mega slam. He's nothing in the clinch, or the ground. Totally overrated in my eyes. He's a good fighter, but not all he's cracked up to be.

Wanderlei will get him, no doubt. I don't think tito can handle Chuck either. As much as I like Tito, I just don't think he has that mental edge over Chuck. Oh, tito will get crushed by wanderlei!! Are you kidding? Tito will have to eat some knees' if he wants to get wanderlei on the ground. If Rampage couldnt slam wanderlei, tito damn sho aint gonna slam him. Oh, and Tito and Rampage train together fyi.
Well, they did before both of Tito's previous fights.

St. Pierre should have lost to BJ Penn, but he will definately have a good chance of beating Hughes. I think he matches up well against wrestlers.

I miss the old Mir, he was a bone breaking machine and one of my favorite fighters. It was tough seeing him in his last fight against Dan "the can" Christianson.. how the mighty have fallen..

A combination of adrenaline, lots of prefight painkillers, denial, and a feeling of invincibility(he was like 18-0 coming into that fight)

He's also a halfwitted meathead

i dont think "half witted meathead" is a factor

i wouldnt call Royce a "half witted meathead" and hes fought through a broken ankle...also Andrei Arlovski broke something in his leg during the second round of the last sylvia fight which is why he couldnt kick anymore, he didnt quit

if anything its commendable that these guys still attempt to finish the fight and dont just tap out and give up months of training

Also if they were half witted meatheads, thered be no tapping out in MMA, i mean once its broke what are you gonna do? might as well keep fightin

I don't call him that b/c he was willing to fight with the break, mostly just because he argued with Herb Dean so insistently after he stepped in to save his career.

This is also the guy who called out Jerome Lebanner for no reason, insulting his nationality(french) while inexplicably claiming to be able to outstrike this K-1 legend.

Now he's even calling out Fedor, the cyborg himself, after this unimpressive decision over Arlofsky.

He's a fine fighter and tough as nails.. but come on, this guy definately rode the short bus

why does the UFC heavyweight division seem so weak and the Pride heavy weight seems strong? UFC where are all the heavyweights at? Who is good in this division? Everyone jumped off the Arlovosky bandwagon after the second Sylvia fight and the Sylvia is good obviously- but he is boring. On a different note they should the Mirko CroCop v. Mark Hunt fight on Fox sports the otherday. I know it was old but it was a cool as hell fight if you like striking.

I wouldnt say people jumped off the arlovsky bandwagon, it was just a disappointing fight

but Arlovsky has been suspended by the NSAC until his leg injury is cleared

i dont think that the heavyweight division will be weak for much longer, i foresee alot of fighters coming to the UFC since pride lost its foothold in Japan, they are going to begin to make the US their headquarters

Pride is stacked in all divisions dude!! The talent pool is bigger b/c it has been around longer than the UFC and is more prestigious. The japanese audience (men & women) blood lust that sport, and have huge respect for the fighters. The UFC is pretty much a biased american audience of mostly men.

What do you mean lost their foothold?

you dont know?

FujiTv dropped Pride for several (rumored) reasons, and Pride is using this as an opportunity to break onto the American scene, a big reason as to why pride and UFC seem to now be working together...they also lost Rampage to another MMA organization

(you cant really blame the UFC for their audience, they have been, and are still, fighting for legitimacy which means balancing becoming legal in all 50 states, expanding the sport of MMA, and and whether you like it or not pleasing the fans because they arent going to expand otherwise and marketin to this audience is the way to do it)

I think all of this is going to greatly benefit MMA and its fans, as well as UFC and Pride..and even the lesser MMA organizations, especially with the Quinton JAckson move (i think it was IFA)

If they're gonna leave Pride, then the next stop should be UFC. UFC has alot of potential.

UFC and Pride should merge into one, they should allow kicking downed opponents and elbows to the head, hell bring back headbutting while we're at it, and then have 8 man tournaments once a week on spike TV

Shit, I'd even watch Blade the series if they managed to make that work
