It was really good, the sound effects were top-notch. Definitely left itself open in case they decide to do another one, and I hope they do if they can get the same people involved. 7/29/2006 1:37:32 AM |

It was horrible.
First of all, the movie just starts and just goes, so you gotta be really fast to keep up with all the details. The plot becomes clear, they gotta find this inside guy in this drug organization that has the capability to find undercover agents working for the FBI and other initials. The movie goes on for the longest time, not advancing this plot AT ALL. They don't even try to look for this guy.
There's no action except for the last firefight. No action is fine, so how about plot advancement? Like I just said, nope. How about some suspense? Nope, not unless you consider "I wonder what position these two will use this time" suspense. How about good acting, a la Collateral. Nope, which is not at fault of the actors, but of just the fact that the movie lacked substance.
The two partners pretty much have NO interaction whatsoever. I think the scene that summarizes their relationship best was when colin farrell leaves for days, with the last thing he said to Jamie "I know what I'm doing", then on the way back Jamie calls him:
Jamie: "Hey where you at?"
Colin: "I'm heading back" *click*
The rescue attempt and the firefight at the end was good, but that's 10-15 minutes of the movie.
The movie was also 2 hours long including all previews and commercials, but it felt like Alexander long. People were relieved to leave the theator. 7/29/2006 2:06:13 AM |

^^That must have been just your theater, everyone in the theater I left were buzzing about how good it was.
And I'm glad it skipped the opening credits and crap, they are typically a waste of time anyway. I don't see what you are talking about about having to be quick to pick-up on details, it was laid out pretty well, I had no problem keeping up.
No action? There were 3 really cool action scenes, the final being the best, but the first 2 were good in their own right. And you're right, there wasn't much suspense, but I don't think it was aiming for suspense really. 7/29/2006 2:21:36 AM |

Fucking awesome. One of the best movies I've seen all year. It's nice to see a picture where the digital video compliments the tone rather than detracting from it (Superman). The only thing I didn't really like was the soundtrack. Oh well. 7/29/2006 3:53:37 PM |

I wasn't too impressed. Michael Mann needs to learn how to use a phone so he can call a steadicam operator or at least a decent film crew, because all the handheld shit was ridiculous and didn't add anything to this movie (though in a movie like Collateral, it did).
Half of the dialogue was unintelligible as well, which is really the biggest knock I had against the movie. 7/29/2006 6:28:40 PM |

All I'm gonna say is that this movie was two minutes of action and two hours of foreplay, which would have been acceptable if it had been mildly thought provoking like Collateral was. 7/29/2006 7:42:16 PM |

I thought it was awesome myself. I thought the dialogue was very realistic and how you would expect real people to talk in normal conversation and not some hollwood movie (let alone one based on an 80's TV show). The best I can do is say not to expect Bad Boys (I liked BB, too) b/c it's not nearly as action-packed. Any ,by the way, some people get FUCKED UP in this movie. Four scenes in particular stand out in my mind but I won't spoil anything. 7/30/2006 9:42:35 AM |

i for one was bored
maybe i don't have a good enough understanding of the original series, but i really really expected a lot more action
and no, pulling a hand grenade out of your crotch does not count as "action"
i did love the john hawkes action at the beginning...
i'd just watch Collateral again... 7/30/2006 1:10:17 PM |

Yeah I think one of the biggest misconceptions was people went in expecting this to be a big-budget shooter, and it decided to go more realistic and not have the big gun fights and explosions and car chases. 7/30/2006 2:23:27 PM |

Quote : | "Chemistry. It’s more than just class that I hated in High School. But I doubt Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell even took this class because they obviously have no concept of chemistry.
I wanted to like and enjoy this film so much. I tried. I really did. But Michael Mann failed me a little bit this time. I enjoy most of his stuff. Being the “godfather of this genre” I expected a little more from him. I wasn’t even impressed with the acting. But I think the biggest flaw in this movie is the writing and directing. The characters just didn’t seem convincing enough. Just about every scene in this movie was generic and something I’ve seen and heard a hundred times already.
In one scene towards the end the characters for a brief moment discuss the scenario and whether to pull out and give up now or to continue and try to get the bad guys. Basically it was “we ride together, we die together….Bad Boys for life!” but with about 10 times as many words.
Long story short, if you advertise this movie as an awesome action flick by showing us a bunch of explosions and action sequences featuring Hollywood’s “hottest stars” we are going to expect more than this. During the first half of the movie I about fell asleep. Everyone left wishing it could have been better but just fell short. It’s OK. Not great, not even good in my opinion. " |
Yeah, so I didn't care for this movie that much

my favorite part of the movie was the scenery because I love Florida, especially Southern Florida so much... I thought it was a good movie... but I also thought they could have made it a little easier to understand... They left it open for another.... so they have an opportunity for redemption. I didn't think they utilized Jamie Foxx's ability enough... he shoulda had a bigger part... that is all... 7/30/2006 9:36:51 PM |

well Tubbs in the series was more of a supporting actor. I thought the visual effects and the gun effects were top notch, Colin Farrell just doesn't do much for me as an actor he is too robotic and he needs to pick an accent in this movie it changed way to much.
I thought it was pretty good I wish they had gotten somebody better to play Sonny. 7/30/2006 10:59:45 PM |

To consider those two "partners" in the movie is a freakin joke. They hardly worked together at all, at least it seemed that way.
I went into this movie excited, thinking it'd be great from all the buzz I'd heard about it being good. But the movie didn't do anything for me. The plot seemed pretty crappy, at least in the way they went about it. I wasn't that impressed by the action scenes.
I don't think it was a horrible movie, but definitely not a great one. I'll put it this way. When it comes out on DVD, I won't be looking to rent it or add it to my NetFlix list. I really don't have much of a desire to see this movie ever again.
And what the fuck was up in the opening scene with the Ferrari? Blue flames out the tailpipes while the car is accelerating? Great, now every dumbfuck out there is gonna think that blue flames shoot out the back of Ferraris (and maybe other high performance cars), while in reality flames only shoot out the back if you're running rich after you take your foot off the gas. Not to mention it only works if you don't have any catalytic converters.
Loved the Ferrari, but hate stupid movie shit like that 7/31/2006 1:35:04 PM |

I saw All The King's Men yesterday(free, mind you) and that garbage was more entertaining than this shiz.
only movie in recent memory where i have been bored enough to go take a piss. I usually hold it if the movie is somewhat grabbing my attention.
and on top of that the same damn boring, longass scene was playing when i got back from the piss.
and no, I didn't go into it with a negative mindset either, I loved collateral
