Second Empire is always my favorite nice place to eat for special occations.

A close second is Mo's Dinner (http://triangle.citysearch.com/profile/6177036/?specialty_id=48&). Although the name might lead you astray it's FANTASIC!! The grilled salad is sooo good. Can never eat the full 4 courses...go for the first (appetizer - more like mini-meal) and second course (salad) and the desert course (skip the main dish)...for most people that should be lot's to eat.

after quitting Carver's Creek, I recently started at Bentley's at Crossroads

it's the one with the big ass clock tower (near Target and Home Depot)

you poor motherfuckers can't afford it, but if your parents are looking for a fancy joint to eat at, tell them to come in

we officially open this Thursday

115 Midtowne at North Hills...had lunch there the other day. can only imagine how great it must be at dinner.

and i'm VERY disappointed that Michael Dean's moved locations. part of what i loved about MD's was the building...the new restaurant looks like a cheesy chain restaurant now

Rey's is managed by the guy who managed the Ruth's Chris in that location. He basically kept everything that Ruth's Chris did so its a good deal.

I made reservations for Mo's Diner... Kind of a silly name, but the pic I found online looked very nice... I can't find a menu, but the reviews were excellent.

Another vote for 518 West. It's got great atmosphere and food without being prohibitively expensive.

Michael Dean's moved from Milbrook/Old Wake Forest to Falls of the Neuse (what used to be Sam Snead's). They've added even more seafood: 16 daily fresh fish options beyond the normal menu and a Raw Bar.

table 73 is the worst table in that whole place. well if this guy says its the best... i guess its one of those love it or hate it things.

and i dont know about the raleigh crap, but i went to gate city here in greensboro last saturday and i thought it was really nice and good. but it was more than im used to paying for dinner.. so i dont know if im white trash for calling it nice or not

My mother is nagging me to choose a place for my birthday dinner, on December 17th.

I'd be fine with doing nothing, or just seeing how things develop, but she refuses.
Her stipulations:
- Must accept reservations, and not insist that the whole party be present to begin seating
- Must be able to seat a party of 13-17
- Max $15/person (yeah...I know). I suppose $20/person budget is workable, and I just won't tell her.

Hayes Barton Cafe will only take dinner reservations for parties of 4-8. I'm at a total loss. I'd rather not go the Applebee's/OCharley's/mediocre chain route. I'm so sad Copeland's is gone

If you're looking for some good Italian give Fratello's a try in the Brier Creek shoppng center. Very reasonably priced and the food is awesome. I've had one of the best Vodka sauces I've ever had in that place.

I agree...I always requested anything but that table...having everyone walk by you and just stare. That is by far the worst table.
