i'm not quite feeling this new one yet.

i mean, it sounds like clear, clean production and stuff, but it seems to maybe not have the sometimes-fierce energy of past releases

Yeah. And the stuff I do like on this one is the melancholy slow stuff, so it doesn't feel very energetic at all.

Just listened to it today and I am disappointed as well. Its not bad but I just wasn't enjoying it, kinda like with the new tom petty album.

I just downloaded his Babylon Springs EP and I love it. Pretty much puts Get Lonely to shame IMO.

Sounds like I'm one of few that actually liked Get Lonely.

It's not as good as some of the other albums, for sure, but it's a niche album. It fills that "most depressing album" hole in the collection, trumping previous TMG albums.
