nope, you can turn it to full simulation, its in the main setup options. disables abs, traction control and all the assists.

it makes a HUGE difference, especially with the keyboard. almost impossible to control

you can wait two months and get the new logitech g25 wheel for 3 benjii + tax. i believe it's the only gaming wheel under $1k (http://www.thomas-superwheel.com/)that has a clutch pedal.

Quote :
"A member of the company's extreme-performance G-series family of peripherals for PC gamers, the Logitech G25 wheel offers advanced features which, until now, could be found only in specialized or custom-made racing simulators that sometimes cost thousands of dollars to assemble. These features include a six-speed gated shifter and clutch pedal; two high-torque force-feedback motors; an 11-inch wheel; and a full 900 degrees of rotation. The wheel, shifter and pedals are made with premium materials such as stainless steel and leather, delivering the look and feel of parts from a race car cockpit..."

the full version, and the demo too, is programmed to be 100% compatible with the g25. considering how on point the game is/will be and the g25's realism, you could practice heel-toes with the game. your clutches will be very thankful.

the g25 works on the ps2, and i'm sure the wheel will work with the ps3 as well.

What are ya'll doin to get the rumble stuff working with the Logitech PS2 steering wheel (Driving Force Pro)?

So far my best with the Ferrari is a 1:40.0xx with tweaked settings. I tried a few laps in Sim mode... phew. My only clean lap was a 1:46.

Try that in your player.plr in UserData/<playername>. That is a pretty good setup i found for this wheel and then i tweaked it further/better. Its awesome compared to default. Once this is in your PLR file, just load the game and don't mess w/ anything in the controller menu. This will set all its settings and more

Weird, it didn't do anything for me! No force feedback, at least. Do you have the old 720deg wheel or the new one that just turns 180deg?

Its the current (and only version i know of) of the Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel for Grand Turismo for PS2. its 900deg.

You have to d/l the logitech drivers online for it to work w/ the PC. the drivers also include a utility to set a few parameters per game. it then launches the game. I use this and set everything to full (150%), except the return to center spring which i check and set to 0%. I set the wheel to 720deg, and then launch the game. So maybe you need that part.

Its definately a lighter feel than default, but its far more accurate i think. and rumble strips should definately realistically bump. you should be able to feel some understeer and ABS, etc too

Ahh, ok. I installed the software, however when I launch the game with the profiler, GTR2 crashes.

Do I have to change any other settings in the profiler, other than what you mentioned?

And yeah, you're right. It probably is 900 deg... the game just wasn't letting it turn more than 180deg with the default settings.

right, the wheel will only go more than 180 if you launch through the profiler or if the game specifically supports 900deg. I think if you can get the profiler launch to work youll be in business

What kinds of lap times are ya'll getting on other tracks? Here's what I'm running so far:

Barcelona: 1:39.952 (Saleen, Novice)
VIR: 1:49.215 (Saleen, Novice)
VIR North: 1:28.784 (Saleen, Novice)

FYI, the steering wheel settings are pretty good, just a little weak. For some reason it seems to "lag" a little bit behind what is happening. /me shrugs. My only point of comparison is Gran Turismo 4. I also changed the radius to 360deg... 2 turns lock to lock is too much work!

You can play about any GTL game with GTR2, if you modify a couple of minor things in the map files.

Instructions: http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=261206

VIR: http://tantra.rscsites.org/gtl/vir/vir.htm
Other maps: http://www.gtr4u.de/jgs_db.php?action=showkat&katid=23&sid

You can find lots of maps on rscnet.org too.

So talk about luck.

Today I'm in the equipment closet at work, and up top is the damn Logitech MOMO wheel. Turns out they bought it for a usability study, and it's been sitting since.

I've been authorized to "test" it further at home. GTR2 here i come!

That's what I thought too. However it's been a long time since I've been on the track.

I did watch a video of VIR Full to compare, and I thought it was pretty close!

I just bought GT Legends... it's great... you can do multiplayer online.

nice, I got some decent times at Road Atlanta last night. Couldn't get VIR to work. Laguna Seca drives weird, almost like it's missing a turn (I know it's not) but it just doesn't flow well like I remember it in GT4, many other games, and in real life experience I have there.

I played some more VIR on GTR2.

Saleen (NOV): 145.555
Ferrari 575 (NOV): 146.184

I didn't tune the Saleen much, but I messed with most of the suspension settings on the Ferrari: stiffer springs and sway bars, more air in the tires, lower ride height, less negative camber (ya don't need as much with stiffer springs and lower height).

I'll post a video if I can figure out how....

It looks like you have to buy some program (fraps) to convert replays to wmv, mpg, etc. Not really worth it.

you dont have to convert. just put the .vcr file in your game dir and you can view it in the game as if it were you own replay

The problem with that is that it saves every single lap, so you have to FF through tons of laps to find the right one. However I'll post one anyways in a minute.

i bought the game earlier today, and i was happy to find they kept the price at $20!!!

it took me just under 2 hours to install the game, and it wasn't because of large content. the problem was that the install stalled several times, and i had to restart the process about 15 times. certain files had trouble being read, especially on the first disc. after trying to "retry" about 10 times, i would just give up and abort the install and start over from the beginning. instead of moving through each of the 3 discs in succession, you go from disc 1 - disc2 - disc 1 - disc 2 - disc 3 - disc 1 - disc 3. and it drove me insane when the damn thing would freeze at about 90% completion. i would've gave up, and returned the damn game if i didn't know it was going to be worth it in the end (thanks to playing the demo).

you start with about 60 cars or so from the 2003 and 2004 seasons, and maybe like 20 unlocked tracks between '02-'04 seasons. one of the best tracks that i've driven on so far is the dubai track. i know that it's a fairly new track, so in the game it's very smooth. best thing about this track is that it has paved runoffs, so it's much more forgiving. it appears to be pretty simple, but it's actually a somewhat technical course. it's got a good combination of low-speed and medium-speed corners, and variable radiuses (or radii?).
