That's because Bill Heard tells customers they have to sign an arbitration agreement where they agree not to sue and agree to have their case heard by a company mediator.

Consumer advocates say people should know they don't have to sign such an agreement to buy a car."

hahaha, wtf?! that dealership is fucking crazy. i can't believe someone would actually sign such an agreement to get a car. i'd be pretty sketched if a salesman told me i had to sign that, and i'd leave.

^ you paid asking price on a car!!!! And thought you got a good deal because the salesman told you it was a "mistake". So most likely you would have signed it.

it was a fair price for the car. i thought it was a good deal even before the guy told me it was supposed to be marked for $1,000 more. i scouted the car out, and intended on buying the car for $5,500 before i drove into the lot. i didn't care to haggle for chump change. whether the guy was lying to me about the mistagging, that was irrelevant.

i don't understand why you two are hung up on my purchase.

you dont haggle for chump change?? When your buying a 5500, a few hundred makes a huge difference! Basically you suck at buying used cars.

^^^ matter of opinion i suppose. i didn't see the point of bitchin' over three or five hundred bucks. like i said, i was satisified with the price, so i bought the car. i still don't see why you care to take my purchase personally. it was my money, and my purchase. if you like to go around bitchin' over trivial things, then go right ahead.

Honestly their claim seems too outrageous to believe.

maybe in their opinion he should have known that they made a mistake, but that doesn't mean that he did know. like i said, maybe he is a jew and thought thats how much it was worth.

and their opinion doesn't make law

So under Tennessee law, you should therefore be able to buy a car you couldn't afford and then come back a month later and say "Oh, by the way, I made a mistake... turns out I can't really afford the payments on this car. I want all of my money back plus my trade in" and the dealership would be required to give you the money back.

It can't only work for the one party and not the other.

Well if the "I made a mistake so the contract is void" law goes one way, it should go the other way as well.
