Yeah, I'm curious as to why a 6 month anniversary is a gift giving occation. I'm happy for you and all (and maybe I'm jaded after 5 years with the same guy - still goofy in love though), but I'd stick to celebrating the trips around the sun...not monthly anniversaries. I will admit that I do silly little notes, etc. on each monthy anniversary, but if you want to spend big bucks, save the money now and go on a big vacation for the year anniversary (http://www.rei.com/adventures/index.html - some fantastic trips!).
