there are a few that i would definitely date again, all of my relationships ended on good notes, meaning they are still my friends that i still talk to on a fairly regular basis

how can you just never talk to someone again after being so close? that person is now part of your history and believe it or not they had an affect on you that helped shape you in some way.

dont burn your bridges, you never know when you might need to call on that person again for whatever reason

I'd really like to beleive one can remain "good friends" with an ex after they break up but I've never seen it truly happen in the long run.... it's always just one long and drawn out release of each other that ends sometime after you make a thread about wishing to get back together with your ex and sometime before you realize there is a lot of life to live and a lot of other people out there. I'd prefer to sever things sooner rather than later and get on with my life. Guess that makes me emotionally insecure.

Great, good for you. Turns out that you are the exception to the rule. Encouraging people to remain friends with their exes (because it apparently has worked for you) while they are still not confident in themselves and are even viewing their past as a "mistake" is very detrimental advice. You're giving a lot of people false hope. For every BobbyDigital there are 50 guys who keep hope that their ex will get back with them and struggle to maintain some sort of friendship with the ex in order to chase that hope. Note the title of this thread, it's not "WHO IS FRIENDS WITH THEIR EXES" it's rather a call for someone to step in and say "It's over man, move on." I wish people would have said that to me much sooner in the past so I could have moved on a lot quicker.
