Actually A-Rod has a gold glove caliber year last year at 3rd..

** for those eligible only 3 had better fielding % (he only had 12 errors)

No one will win an AL gold glove other than Chavez at 3B for thext 4-6 years, you can take that to the bank

Johan had to win tonight to lock up Cy Young and have a chance at MVP.

Dye is losing votes too since Sox are likely done.

Papi, Morneau, or Jeter now.

Of course not. Just like no one will win NL SS over Vizquel. There is too much politics in the gold glove voting but that doesn't mean people can't have gold glove CALIBER seasons.

^^Oh yeah he is the Cy frontrunner.

I was just saying he could have locked it up with that game.

Also his chances for MVP probably went out the window too.

probably...unless he tosses a no-hitter sometime in one of his last ~2-3 appearances

AL MVP: Morneau or Jeter or Ortiz
NL MVP: Pujols or Howard
AL Cy Young: Santana
NL Cy Young: Carpenter or Webb
AL ROY: Verlander or Weaver (too bad for Papelbon and Liriano)
NL ROY: Ramirez or Uggla or Zimmerman

The only given is Santana. All the other races are still tight in my opinion

Liriano has just as good of a chance as Weaver does.

Id say AL ROY is Verlander easily.

Give Pujols the MVP already. Let me give you an interesting stat: strikeouts......Howard has 180 and Pujols has 50. Which one would you say is an MVP??? Plus he is a better fielding first baseman.

Quote :
"He's also hitting .397 with runners in scoring position, while Howard is hitting .239 in the same situation."

Plus Albert has 26 game winning RBIs while Howard only has 17. And now Pujols SHOULD be in the postseason and Howard is not.

^and Pujols is the only player worth a shit on his team that is going to the playoffs. He cant do everything, and you can NOT argue that Howard is more important to his team. The cardinals dont sniff the playoffs w/out Pujols.

Howard = MVP

The numbers that matter and that most people care about are in Howard's favor. Yes he played more games than pujols which means more RBI's and HR etc... and yes he struck a whole hell of a lot more that pujols and yes his fielding is subpar and yes maybe the cardinals dont sniff the playoffs without pujols but the phillies were nearing the bottom of the NL before Howard put them on his back. The Cards were in the lead of their division throughout the entire year with or without pujols and the phils still ended up with a better record.

Howard = MVP, theres no doubt.

i just noticed verlander and hanley ramirez got the rookie of year
i wasn't surprised about verlander winning it but i questioned ramirez

ramirez had comparable numbers but i honestly thought zimmerman would get it

especially since ramirez's teamates (Uggla and josh johnson) were both in the running

hahaha, I don't know how you can put this line in there and still argue for Howard. He's a good player....actually from St. Louis....but this is out of line.

What? You just said right before that if they didn't have Pujols, they don't sniff the playoffs and then you make this dumb statement.

Pujols SHOULD win the MVP dammit. Look at the meaningful numbers. He won the damn Gold Glove to top it off with his clutch numbers.

Brandon Webb won Cy Young. 2) Hoffman 3) Carpenter 4) Oswalt

What a crock, Webb deserves it the least out of those 4.

I am pretty surprised by the NL voting thus far - Hanley Ramirez and Webb?? I expected Uggla and Carpenter. Webb did lead the league in wins while playing for a shitty team and Ramirez stole 50+ bases as well as being a pretty solid all around hitter so I guess that's what some of the voters looked at.

As a Cards fan, I'll say that Carpenter didnt deserve it....although fishier things have happened. Nobody really deserved it this year.

^ Baseball always waits a few weeks to give out it's awards. I don't know why, but it's nothing new.

^^ Yeah the NL really had no standout performances this year. I cannot remember a year with less worthy candidates - maybe that year Mark Davis (the SD closer) won the Cy Young.

the key word was the MAYBE, it was meant to add sarcasm but either way Howard deserved it and won it.

^^ I like how the Phillies had a better record then the Cardinals still though.. I guess the MVP should go to a player on which ever team plays in the worst division in baseball. Pujols iwas untouchable for a long time but b/t him pretty much saying Glavine sucked after he shut them out and this he is coming off as a dick.. The Cardinals would have been third place every other division in baseball, literally...

^ Agreed. I used to think Pujols was a Cal Ripken type guy that was classy and didn't let his success go to his head. I guess not. I still think he is an amazing player, but I'll never hold him in the same regard again after hearing his most recent bitching and his trashing of Glavine.

Thx Beardawg...

2007 Awards Predictions

AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez -- no question. Not debatable. Nice season by Magglio but no where near what A-Rod has done for the Yankees. He may not be a "true Yankee" whatever the fuck that means but he is THE reason they will be in the playoffs for the 13th straight year.

NL MVP: David Wright -- I'm ready to get trolled for this but I feel he is the choice. Miggy and Hanley can be eliminated b/c of their team. Prince has struggled with the Brewers collapse and Albert hasn't been true Albert. Wright is hitting on pace for .320, 33 HRs, 110 RBIs, 115 Runs, 35 SB, 45 2B, and a .410 OBP. No one in the history of baseball has hit .300, 30+, 110+ runs/RBIs, 30+, 45+, .400+... He has carried the Mets when they needed to be carried and it doesn't hurt he is on a winning team.

AL Cy Young: C.C. Sabathia -- Though this is VERY tough to predict. Haren probably has the best numbers but the A's suck. Escobar and Lackey will take votes from each other. Sabathia has been a rock in a decent, but not dominant rotation.

NL Cy Young: Brandon Webb. Young is out of it. Peavy didn't help himself. Webb is the man...

AL Rookie of the Year: Brian Bannister -- 4th in the AL in ERA. 11 wins for a shitty team. Should have been the 5th man in the Mets rotation this year.

NL Rookie of the Year: Ryan Braun -- if he isn't you're retarded and wrong.

^ pretty much agree on all of those. The NL MVP race is pretty weak this year. Wright has been awesome in the 2nd half and when Utley got hurt, it killed his chances. If there was a great hitter on either the Padres or D-Backs, they would get votes, but Wright is the best hitter on the best team in the NL so he deserves it.

I have Bannister on my fantasy teams and it is amazing how no one talks about how well he has pitched. Diasuke better not win that shit because Bannister's numbers are better and if he pitched for the Red Sox, he'd have 16 wins by now.

Braun should get NL ROY...however if he collapses...and somehow Hunter Pence gets enough at bats to qualify for the batting title...has there ever been a rookie who got the batting title and didn't get ROY?

Also Chris B. Young is a sleeper for Arizona...28 homers and 24 SB...he just happens to be batting a horrible average below .250

AL MVP-ARod no doubt
NL MVP- probably down to Wright, Pujols, Fielder, Braun maybe?, Matt Holiday
AL Cy-Should be Haren regardless of team then CC, Lackey, Escobar, and Carmona.
NL Cy-Down to Webb, Peavy, Penny, and Francis should get votes pitching like he has for the Rockies.

Rollins deserves a look for NL MVP too but he really isn't having much better a year than Reyes had last year and he didn't get a true look in '06... Rollins has a bit more pop but also plays in a Little League park.

Rookie of the Year:
AL: Dustin Pedroia (Brian Bannister and Dice K also have a good chance)
NL: Ryan Braun

MVP:
AL: AROD
NL: I agree with NYM410 that David Wright might get the MVP but I think Chase Utley might get it even though he missed a month

Manager of the Year:
AL: Eric Wedge
NL: Bob "I wish he would have stayed with the Mariners" Melvin (obviously I like the M's)

Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year:
AL: JJ Putz
NL: Jose Valverde

Cy Young:
AL: CC Sabathia (he's on a better team than Haren)
NL: Brandon Webb

He isn't even top 5 right now: 1) Haren 2) Bedard 3) Sabathia 4) Escobar 5) Lackey
