Who the fuck are you???
I've done improv, it was a class, but it was a full year... with some shows.
And I've seen the ones who advertise to be kid friendly and shit, and they are horrible.... Restricting improv is retarded, When Drew Carey and his crew came they were really raunchy and witty and it was awesome. You have to have a balance of the two... Being witty>swearing a lot, but you have to be unrestricted for the "witty" to have a great impact.

Actually, family friendly shows are more difficult most of the time I hear. Being funny while censoring yourself is hard to do. Too many people take the easy way out and throw a curse word or two in there to get a chuckle out of people.
Class or not, your post was kinda retarded. There is nothing wrong with family friendly comedy, and just because you think you're funny because you curse doesn't mean you actually are.

Yeah, Drew Carey is a fantastic improviser. Top notch, one of the best.
Just one more reminder, the show is tomorrow night at 7 PM in Stewart Theatre! 9/12/2006 11:25:54 AM |

I'd like to also mention that a much larger number of funny sketches on SNL, Kids in the Hall, and SCTV were, in fact, void of anything incredibly raunchy.
If you think you have to say "fucking suck my cock, bitch" to be funny in a scene, you're really pretty simple minded. 9/12/2006 3:43:15 PM |

Well the guys who are on stage doing a national tour were raunchy & make a great living...
that's odd.
And did you seriously say "served"?
Christ, the only thing I'm saying is I saw a "family friendly" improv show a few years back with kids about the same age as these & it was horrible. So much potential wasted because they couldn't make references to sex, race, or make any good insults.

It's comedy that doesn't use curse words or make dick jokes.
However, that doesn't immediately mean that it's comedy for seven year olds. It's just not profane. 9/13/2006 11:58:03 AM |

i suggest that mildew sticks to watching carlos mencia make 143437072345 jokes per show about beaners and stops trying to act like he knows what makes good comedy.
^and really, its only b/c we want to do a show for everyone. so everyone, show up!

I had a good time. There were some denial problems in the first half, but everyone worked around them (and the inevitable racy suggestions) well. PinkandBlack killed in a few games, in particular showing some good restraint in "Columns" by letting the scene run while holding a sure edit line. It was pretty good for a CSz* show.
* I say this as someone who is not a fan of the ComedySportz/ComedyWorx format. There's nothing wrong with it per se, I just don't prefer it for a number of reasons. 9/14/2006 11:52:19 AM |
