I hope they don't get the ban removed. I always hated those poser wannabes that showed up for COD events for the alcohol and walked around the studios acting like they knew something about design. If you just want to get smashed, do it elsewhere.

Last time I checked it was a costume party with live music and pumpkin carving...Where does knowing something about design factor into that anywhere?

I was never big on tailgating, and I got here too late to enjoy the other fun things that have been squashed

but I've gone to the Design School bash every year, and I'm to see it destroyed too

^^He was referring to studio crawl. Which was also fun before they made it dry too. It's not about critiquing people's work, its about seeing what different departments are doing and *gasp* interacting with people outside of your own department.

And alcohol sure as hell helps.

^I figured. And yeah, dude needs to stop being a snob..art is for everyone, even alcoholic, non-design majors.

haha, do what now?

social conservatives, the ones that are always complaining about things being "ungodly" and whatnot...thats who he is talking about here.

Looks like its probably not going to happen:

Quote :
"Dear COD students,

Due to many obstacles, Design Council is seriously considering cancelling this year's Halloween Bash. There are a handful of students planning this event and we simply cannot do it alone. To realistically pull the bash off, we need about 100 people to get involved. We are holding an "Emergency Bash Meeting" Monday at 5:15 at the egg.

I hate to put it this way, but this is not an empty threat... If there are not at least 100 people at tomorrow's 5:15 meeting, ready to get involved in this massive planning process, we will regretfully have to cancel the bash.

Regards,
Design Council"

Does it really take 100 people to set up the bash?

Honestly, The Halloween Bash was one of my favorite experiences at NCSU because we were actually allowed to party on Campus for a change which brought more people together.

Then on top of that...it meant there would actually be good bands (The Rose Buds)

But that was a year ago, my senior year.

Thanks NCSU for fuckin up once again!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, but we check EVERY person's Drivers License and only those over 21 get a wristband to drink.

More underage drinking goes on at bars than does at the bar, if that's what you are trying to imply

Here here. I loved the Halloween Bash. Best thing on campus. Fuck'n Nazis. This is on par with the "pussification" of America.

They take this Halloween Bash away, and they are going to have alot of pissed off Design Kids.

The foresight on this thing is that many of those students who would have had a great time if the Bash existed are probably not going to donate anything to the School once they are established and out of college. Most alumni donate because of their memories from college.

My fondest memory is seeing a bunch of drunks dressed as the Oregon Trail at the bash, not me sitting in a lecture hall at 11:20 for Astronomy 112.

I would go for a one strike rule, in that if the Design School fucks up, they can go for the zero tolerance policy. But for the most part, that party has been fairly responsible and there are usually no complaints afterwards, even by the security there. They need to give the Design School a chance.

^^^No I was implying that people sure are getting their panties in a twist because they can't show up somewhere and drink alcohol.

Besides, why check to see if a person is 21 when it's truly BYOB with no mooching going on? You'd only need to check if you were distributing it in some fashion. If you are distributing it in some fashion then people will show up to mooch - hence the original retarded comment I made.

Have to check anyway, we are responsible if some 18 year old kid gets trashed and acts a fool. Luckily no one has done that in the entire I've been in school here at least

The bash has been going on since 1992, if not further. There's never been an incident.

you know what i do when i find out a party is not serving alcohol?

1. I do not attend the party. FUCK THAT.
2. If I have to go, I bring my own alcohol. Flasks work nicely and everybody loves a man with a flask!

i think the technician said that alcohol will be served at the party and attendence will be limited. not sure how exactly the "limited attendence" will differ from past year's policies, though. wonder if they'll sell a limited number of tickets tickets to all students or not?
