Lucky Number Slevin was alright, but how the fuck would it take the top spot on any list?

I can find no comparison between those two things. Maybe you meant Hard Candy?

Yep, I saw it last December.

I haven't seen that many this year but as of now,
1. Thank You for Smoking

I haven't seen enough other movies this year to add any more to my list.

I hope Thank You doesn't get snubbed at Oscar time, but I'm sure it will.

NEW LIST OMG.

1. The Science of Sleep.
2. Brick.
3. The Puffy Chair.
4. Inside Man.
5. Dave Chappelle's Block Party.
6. The Proposition.
7. Half Nelson.
8. Hard Candy.
9. Bubble.
10. Friends with Money.

I kind of want to put The Departed in there, but I don't know quite yet where.

^Yeah, my list is going to change soon... half nelson is probably going to have to be in my list too... the departed may too...

I liked Science of Sleep a lot, but I don't think it will break my top 10.

Either watching Jesus Camp or This Film Has Not Yet Been Rated tomorrow.

heard anything?

Looking forward to both...

Unfortunately, I haven't seen Jesus Camp yet (didn't get the print in time to screen it. I have seen Not Yet Rated, and it was all right. It would have been a lot better if the director hadn't mentioned everything that happens in the entire movie in his interview on Fresh Air last week. I really want to see Jesus Camp, though.

Whats up with that Galaxy/Consolidated hook up/trade?

I spend way too much money at the galaxy for someone who manages a movie theater.

there havnt been 3 good movies all year , how the fuck are you supposed to name 10.

I really didnt think " thank you for smoking" was a good movie at all. It was like a poorly done "Lord of War" with worse lead acting, less humor, and cigs instead of bullets.

My list will likely change some when Children of Men comes out- I've heard nothing but good things.

I wonder if there's any possible way of seeing Pan's Labyrinth before next year, too- it looks amazing.

The Fountain, and Superman Returns. (thats about all I can think of for 2006)

I also thought The Prestige was pretty neat.

Requiem is playing at Galaxy right now (probably just for one week, though, until Thursday). I think you'd really like it. We're getting Pan's Labyrinth on the 19th. I think Perfume is opening mainstream (wtf, it's Tykwer) in about a month.

I'll have my final list once I've seen Pan's Labyrith and Children of Men.

in no particular order:

the science of sleep
little miss sunshine
hard candy
thank you for smoking
stranger than fiction
rocky balboa (just for getting to see a rocky movie in theatres )

it is worth noting i never got to see brick, borat(surprising since my friends and i have had the ali g dvds for years now), babel, or half nelson (all of which i heard were good).

worst movies i saw: X3, lady in the water, silent hill.

1. borat
2. jackass 2 (just bc i like to laugh, and between all the cringing i did a whole lot of that)
3. hard candy
4. the descent (pretty much all you can ask for from a horror movie)
5. the departed
6. the hills have eyes (pretty much all you can ask for plus some super ridiculous/funny parts)
7. the prestige
8. lucky number 7
9. green st hooligans (yea i know im probably alone on that one)

and i couldn't think of a tenth

but i still haven't seen apocalypto, flags of our fathers, letters from iwo jima, little miss sunshine, requiem, pan's labyrinth of course, babel, half nelson, brick, children of men, the science of sleep, casino royale...all of which could wipe out my entire top ten...besides my top two

i suppose this is kind of an honorable mention but, The Five People You Meet In Heaven was one of the best made for TV movies i've seen. I actually liked the way it was shot too.

i have more of a "movies i wanted to see in 2006 but haven't gotten around to yet b/c i'm slack" list than a top 10 movies list

i started to list them but my list kept getting longer and longer, and now i'm just sad
