one example of a smart play Evans made was the little flick pass for a 1st down, where he made sure to stay behind the line of scrimmage. he made a bunch of other good decisions late in the game.

it wasn't taken out of context, I was just being a smartass b/c the guy above me said "we are not going to have a good statistical qb", which is basically the same thing as saying "we are not going to have a good qb" b/c there is no difference, either you're good or you're not and the stats show that, and I believe Evans will eventually be a good qb and his stats will eventually reflect that....

Best point so far. Evans showed pocket poise not seen since Rivers left in 04. When pressure came against Stone, the head went down every time. Evans on the other hand was mobile in the pocket and made completions in spots where Stone would have run it. That's not to say Evans didn't scramble,but he only did it as a last resort. Great QB's spend every last moment they can trying to find the open receiver.

Now, to be fair, he needs to learn to move through his reads. He missed a few wide opn receivers b/c he didn't see the whole field. Not a big deal considering he's making his first real appearance. The arnm strength is NOT an issue. How much of a threat was the deep ball with Stone? Nonexistant, he never had the patience to with that long. Evans DOES have patience.

On Saturday NC State had a PASSING threat. When we had to throw, Evans threw. When the game was on the line, Evans took his shots and they paid off. If he can stand up to other defenses like he did this one, we might finally have an offense worth watching...

We'll see how things pan out Thursday, but I'm finally optimistic for once...

after this game i am amazed at how anybody did anything on us last year when tank was the 4th best guy on the dline.
