Fucking alright. Just got back from a Gears Of War Event with Epic and Xbox marketing here in Chapel Hill, NC. About a half hour west of Raleigh (where I live) and where Epic's offices are.

Let me tell you man, this was like the most bizarre expensive swank layout i've seen in quite a while. Ammo casings and spent shells everywhere, free cocktails and drinks, chicks walking around with an assload of gourmet food and different shots rolling out constantly in your face (vodka cranberry, lemon drop, etc). People walking around with free shirts, screen printing with your gamertag on them, xbox marketing people taking pictures with polaroids handing them to you. Just insanity everywhere. Everything was on the house, tons of promo shit ,etc. Probably like 30 kiosks running the game, and a live band. (although they were standard pop punk shit) There was also stuff staged into the area like a thermonuclear site or something - crashed cars into the outside of the club, stretchers...etc. Pretty awesome.

Anyway, I played the game and it's pretty much the best graphics in motion i've ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous game, so brutal too. I will say it's a bit tough to control...like, it'll take a while to get use to the mecahnics. Most kills were acheived by rushing people with melee or otherwise positioning yourself right (flanking, etc). You can take an assload of gun damage. All MP games felt very intense, brings TEAM DEATHMATCH back to awareness I think. Absolute must buy, this one is. (duh)

Anyway, thanks Microsoft for allowing me to get drunk and frag peeps on your dime. Here's to viral marketing...

BTW, went to eb to preorder. It'll be in the morning of Nov 8th (10am gets you signed copies), but they'll hand them out around 11am. Or at least that's the rub at the ebgames in cary/petsmart shopping center.

From what I've heard, EBgames will have it available for pickup on the 8th. I don't know of anywhere that's doing a midnight release.

On a side note, I've heard that if you stagger someone with a few shots from the assault rifle and then rev up the chainsaw, it's much easier to use. Unless they are running around with a shotgun out the chainsaw should still be effective.

i saw something like that in some multiplayer videos...shot em and almost killed them, they fell to the floor staggering and then one time they chainsawed them and another time they walked up to them and shotguned their head off...cool

Yes it has a co-op mode where the 2nd player can jump in at any time. So if you are playing Single player and your buddy jumps on, send him an invite and he'll take over the other character immediately and seamlessly.
