He had a cortizone shot into his spine. He is just fine now..

First game on the dockett today is A's @ Twins at 1PM on ESPN and ESPNHD. Johan Santana is 12-0 at home and Barry Zito is just as unhittable when he is on his game.

I'm predicting a 4-2 Twins victory.

Next is the Dodgers @ Mets @ 4PM on ESPN. Glavine vs. Maddux. I like the Dodgers in this one...I just think Maddux is a better big-game pitcher. 6-5 L.A.

And in the late game, Tigers @ Yankees at 8PM on Fox, Nate Robertson will face off against Chien Ming Wang.

The only other time the yankees featured these 9 players in the lineup at the same time, they scored 15 runs in the first 5 innings, and then took everyone out.

I say it gets ugly quick.... 13-4 Yankees is the final.

Maddux is pitching Game 3. The Dodgers MUST win Game 1 if they have a chance. Kuo is pitching Game 2 which is pretty fucking dumb imo.. Yeah, the Mets have had a bit of trouble versus LHP but this is the playoffs.. in New York.. and they are starting a 1-4 rookie with a 4.50 ERA...

^ and Game 1 isn't even until tomorrow

Fine might be a bit of a stretch. Good enough to pitch yeah, but it should be interesting to see how his back olds up. I still think the Yankees sweep or at the very most win in 4, but the Unit game is the one I would think the Tigers have a chance in still..

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty happy at least the NYY/DET game is on Fox since I don't have cable. Should be the best matchup this go-around.

^ I dont know if that will be much of a series. I think the yanks will clobber them.

A-Rod hitting 6th is a big story in NY, but I kind of agree with it. He hasnt done shit in the playoffs since the ALDS of 2004

Also worth noting that he is 6-for-19 off of tonight's starter, Nate Robinson

Johan versus Zito....this series I think will end up being the best.

If Harden was 100% I think the As could win....the Twins homefield advantage will win for them.

Whoever wins game 1 today between STL/SD I think will win the series.

Oh, that is pleasant news. El Duque is out with a calf injury. Gotta love having 3/5ths of your preseason rotation, including your ace and #2, hurt... lovely.

The NL should just play for a AAAA championship and they should let the AL pull 6 teams for the real MLB postseason.

Haha.. the rotation is going to be likely:

John Maine
Tom Glavine
Steve Trachsel
Oliver Perez

yikes. Well, the bats better be alive or they aren't winning this series. I still think they definitely can but losing El Duque hurts.. a lot. They won 97 games in the reg. season using 16 different starters.. Oliver Perez better fucking throw one of his amazing games and not a stinker.

V he isn't even DEFINITELY out yet but it would be for this series.. strained calf

Let's Go Tigers!

^ 3rd best rotation. not staff. the bullpen is, bar none, the best in the NL.. and they still have the best lineup.

FYI for those who care. El Duque's MRI came back negative. He will be the Game 4 starter.

It's John Maine, Tom Glavine, Steve Trachsel, El Duque for the Mets. Still got a punchers shot.

V well most of the time on on a computer is at work and I can't have it there.. once I get my laptop up and running again I'll be on...

El Duque says he wants to pitch today. The Mets are going to be rolling the dice no matter what they do. If they start him today and he does poorly, well shit. If they start him today and he does OK, good--it saves them from using another starter. Keeping him for game 4 is stupid when game 4 may not even happen.

But hey... we'll see.

10:07 AM - Buzz: El Duque on Roster, But Not Starting Today
...posted by Matthew Cerrone...

The Mets were required to submit their roster for the NLDS by 10 am this morning…

…from what i can gather, though Orlando Hernandez will not be the starter for this afternoon’s game, he will be on the roster, as will Oliver Perez…i believe they chose not to take along the third catcher, Mike DiFelice, to make room for perez…

…i suspect the team will make an official announcenet on today’s starting pitcher in a few hours…"

Good. Maine is reliable. Top 10 WHIP in baseball for starters who qualify. El Duque will probably go Game 3 I'm hearing. Ok, what the hell. He's out for the postseason now (Boy work is boring this early when I'm the only one in...)

I dont know about the best in baseball, but you guys have the best one in the playoffs right now. I think the Angels have you beat, despite not making the playoffs.

^^ yeah, the Angels were definitely better. I agree.

I was talking about the playoffs. Actually, the Twins had a great bullpen in the regular season too but the Mets/Twins are definitely 1a and 1b...

any picks for the Yanks v. Tigers game today? I say verlander gets wild....one, because he is a power pitcher with a lot of adrenaline for the playoffs, and 2, because he hasnt pitched in a long time...

I say the yanks get him early....5 runs by the 3rd inning before he settles down, but moose dominates.

5-2 yankees.

Cano is my pick for offensive star of the game.

I feel bad for A-Rod; god he looks lost.

Oh and if the Dodgers didn't play last night I'd say the Tigers are probably the worst situational hitting and baserunning playoff team in history.. they look BAD. If A-Rod could swing the bat this game would be over..
