Forget all this group 2 group 3 stuff. If you want to become a better driver, use more tape:

PS: Time trials or better yet actual wheel to wheel racing is where it's at. Short of that, come to the cart track w/us!

lol...by the time i get to HPDE 3/4 or TT...i'd have bought a E30 or E36 M3 as a second car to beat on at the track. until then...my ass stays in the controled levels.

What's the deal with all the tape? Covering up holes for aerodynamic purposes? Trying to cover up the paint to keep it from being damaged by pieces of rock going ~60mph?

rock chips mainly. for headlights, parking lights, paint.

hah, and its not ~60MPH.

the tape actually helps. i put like 2 coats on the headlights.

plus its makes you faster. its "racer" tape

That's not my car, btw. My M3 is white and I think rock chips are hot. That pic is some kids signature on bimmerforums and thought it was pretty funny.

Here's another fine example of "racer's tape" being put to good use (and I'm talking about the vette behind my car, I thought they were going to enforce the tape on headlights at summit):

^your instructor is like "over there, noob"

It's funny that that piece of shit m3 didn't tape his clear turn signals... they needed to be replaced anyway

Evo Power can follow me out of the infield and onto the banking at Rockingham and we'll see who wants tape, plastic, or a bra.

It probably was real at one point but I'm sure Baonest swapped the motor with a GSR body and then blew a piston.

It's a shame you guys won't be coming to rockingham.

PS: A picture of a car in an HPDE event is a sure sign that the car in front is winning, especially if tape or a bra is utilized.

What about Home Depot carpet plastic? Thats carrying the concept about as far as you can go.

As for the bra, I'll probably only used it at Rockingham since it seemed to make the car "feel" weird down the straights at both VIR and Roebling. Plus the nose mask was starting to come off and I would have eventually gotten black flagged.

Porsche bra's suck.

P.S. Thinking about Rockingham...work on us some more on Monday.

aint no one a pRo.

you've got 2 levels of instructor being with you, then you can drive freely.

its far from real wheel to wheel racing

It is possible to "solo" in the first two levels once you have demonstrated an understanding of the dynamics of your car on track, have a "feel" for the track, and obey the rules of traffic and passing. Being offered a solo run is definately a reward for a good weekends work and a good sign that you are progressing as a drive.

i was at CMP at level one and got written off, after the session, this other kid in an integra was all hoping to get written off this and that. it was probably the worst idea ever. all he did was drive crazy just to mess around with me. it was annoying. i pitted for about a minute so he can get the hell away.

going solo is fun, but no when other people are not putting their lessons they learned to use
