I happen to live with the guy, so I feel the need to comment...

I don't understand why it's such a big deal for there to be a guy on the color guard. We are not the only school that has one, I assure you. Lots of DCI bands have male guard members. Why don't you stop paying so much attention to what he is doing and cheer on your own football team with him?

My girlfriend was in colorguard in high school as well as colorguard in her first two years of college so I was dragged along to plenty of competitions.

Gay guys are extremely prevalent in these things. It shouldn't surprise you and I assure you that this is not a rarity in other college colorguards.

Both of her instructors during high school were (flamingly) gay. Nobody cares.

What is funny though is that at colorguard competitions I get hit on more than my girlfriend.

The different uniform is actually a male/female thing. The girls all have the striped tunic tops, and he has the solid red top. It's made of the same material that the girls' right sleeves are, but looks darker cuz there's more of it. Back when the flags first were on the field (3 years ago), they tried the unisex uniform idea and it didn't look good at all.
