well, most of the people i know have cingular and a majority of them seemed pretty pleased with it, so i went and signed up with them

got my nc state discount for the monthly rates

should take about 2-4 days for my landline number to transfer to the cell...and after that, i guess i'm unwired

thanks for your help everybody

hahaha goodluck with cingular... i had that shit for 3 years and suffered the entire time.. i hardly got signal anywhere. Had to talk on the balcony when i lived in the dorm, when i moved to wolf village i had to buy an external antenna, and it never picked up signal in large stores unless i was right at the front... they also tried to screw me when my phone tore up, i had to file a claim with the better business bureau to get my money back on a $300 charge that was completely bogus... i switched to Verizon and haven't had a problem since... i get signal everywhere, even in the back of stores, and have had no problems with overcharging and/or rude customer service

I can't speak for cingular after the merger, but it sucked beforehand. I was tempted to go back to them honestly, but stuck with Verizon.

Welcome to the 21st Century Mark.

I (my parents) have Alltel and I like it, no complaints other than the Alltel RAZR sucks, the alarm decides when it will work. As far as service I've almost never had a place where I can't contact someone, usually the least is 2 bars. Inside Centennial buildings (EBII) I don't get signal but not many do. They have simply the BEST coverage, I always have signal. No dropped calls...great overall.

Don't do it, man. Get an unlimited long distance plan for your landline. Cell phones are teh suck.

ive had great customer service from cingular. one month i ran up a huge phone bill (which was completely my fault) and it only took a 5 minute phone call to get $300 knocked off the bill. a few years ago i often found myself short at the end of the month and they always gave me as much time as i needed without cutting my service.
