I honestly don't understand how you can play 16+ minutes in a game and have that bad a statline. 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 turnover. Did they ice him out of the offense? Is he just too unathletic to get a shot?

hell in college he was often too unathletic to get a shot unless he got some other short white dude to bite on a pump fake before he sidestepped...half the time he was coming off multiple screens

they need to just have him camp out in the corner and wait for his man to go help down low and kick it out to him for a 3-pter

That would work if everyone in the NBA wasn't taller. He's going to have to make those LONG 3pters all the time if he wants to be pull off his quick draw NCAAB bullshit.

and those looong 3pt shots in college are just regular 3pt shots in the NBA...~4 feet longer

I know that. I'm talking about 2-3 ft behind the NBA line. Without his screens he's going to be pressured into making some quick shots with good visibility. The only way he's going to get that for himself is by stepping back.

JJ hit a 3 early and other than that he didnt do shit

Diener was on fire...I think Orlando picked JJ first, happened to pick Diener, kept JJ cause he was a 1st round pick, and kept Diener because he could actually create his own shot

but tonight Diener made you go "JJ Who?"

An article I read yesterday said that JJ would be in the NBDL right now except the Magic don't want to admit they wasted a pick on a flop.

Horrible draft selection, he'd only work on a few teams (houston, cleveland, and phoenix). Houston and cleveland have big guards who could defend his man and he'd get open shots with all the attention LBJ and Tmac get.... Phoe doesnt play defense anyway and he'd get plenty of looks in the run & gun

pairing JJ with an undersized PG like Jameer was just an atrocious idea.

both benefited off being on the best team with a great complement player (lienhart and williams) and looking good on highlits.

both had one amazing ability that not many people in college could handle (while handling the rest of their amazing team) and exploited it over and over (bush's speed jjs shot) AND WERE PRETTY BAD AT THE REST OF THE TRAITS PLAYERS AT THEIR POSITIONS HAD

both are too small and not physically right for their pro position and

neither will be able to exploit their ability the same way or be on one of the best teams.

I know that this is what everyone was saying back when this cocksucking thread came out, except me of course...

But it just reminded me of the ESPN(?) commercial with the guys talking out of their ass...

That's all.

I disagree with the Bush and JJ comparison. JJ was the focal point of Duke's offense, the entire offense ran through his ability to shoot, Shewill was the second option. Then in JJ's Soph-Sen years K developed his ability to dribble the ball in a line to the goal, and K knew exactly what he'd be getting in either layups or fouls (study the LSU Duke NCAA game last year to find out when the officiating is fair) in addition to that extra half step of space defenders had to give him in case he went to the hole. I've never in my life seen a player with his lack of athleticism be allowed to get to the rack as unharassed as he was. Defenders were in a sense defenseless against it, and K did a great job of hammering it home to ACC officials.

Bush on the other hand had to share the load with All americna Wideouts and tight ends, along with a pretty good backup RB and still won the Heisman. Bush will be fine in the NFL. If he can progressively get to 25 carries over the next 3 seasons (will not happen all in one offseason) he can be all pro year in and year out. Not to mention he can catch the ball out of the backfield better than all Rb's except for maybe 2 or 3.

He wouldn't be great, but at least he would get some minutes and open looks.

Which would make him a good role player.

The only reason JJ is struggling is because he hurt his foot. Go ahead, make up theories that the refs made him good but he was shooting over nba defenders his whole career so the only thing thats changed is his shooting. Of course he won't be driving in the nba.

o and Lsu refs called no bodies inside. they only called arm contact.

Yeah it has NOTHING to do with him being athletically inferior to pretty much the entire rest of the league does it?

And mixed in with the handful of NBA players he actually "shot over" (note: got screened open past), he was shooting over mostly scrubs who never could sniff the NBA

wow you really are an idiot

Haha, Reggie Miller Part 2? Reggie is a borderline hall of famer (some wouldn't even call him borderline) who has won a MVP and nearly singlehandedly made a team/city prominent. Redick can't even get 10 minutes a game right now..

This is not a theory, anytime he put the ball on the deck and drove to the basket the refs blew the whistle, there is no way you think JJ Redick's ability to get to the hole is better than half the PG's in the ACC at that time even though he had more "success" doing it. This guy will be in the D league wondering where Hess, Lucky, Rose, and Valentine are. But hey he's got 2-3 M in the bank, he shouldn't be complaining

when someone can shoot that good you have to get right up on their face. i could drive to the basket if somebody guarded me that close. the pgs in the acc were being played off but you couldn't just give jj the 3. and once somebody blows by you you are already out of position and likely to foul.

the best defender on every acc team is at least just as good of a defender as the average defender in the nba.

Nope. Not even close. You seriously underestimate the athleticism needed to be successful in the Association. It's very, very rare you see a player without the explosiveness needed to get his shot for himself, be successful at that level. Just watch a few Magic games and you'll see Redick can't even get in the lane let alone to the hoop. That contradicts your statement alone..
