Cal has the #1 rated SOS in a lot of the computers. I think they are #2 in the overall computer ranking component of the BCS...

and what I am saying is that those SOS calculators are bullshit. They have killed a lot of teams that built up "good" records beating shitty teams.

Tennessee = great
Minnesota = garbage
Portland State = garbage
Arizona State = garbage
Oregon State = garbage (outside of ONE game where they showed up and USC didnt show up and still almost won)
Oregon = good
Washington = garbage
Washington State = decent
UCLA = so so
Arizona = garbage
Standford = worst garbage in football
Kentucky = garbage

Cal = great
Air Force = decent (gimmic team, hard to prepare for)
Florida = great (lost by 1)
Marshall = garbage
Memphis = garbage
Georgia = great at the time
Alabama = good
South Carolina = good
LSU = great
Arkansas = pretty good
Vandy = decent
Kentucky = garbage

people seem to forget that florida is going to win out here if we have lots of one loss teams, because they lost earlier in the season, face it losing at the end of the year fucks you over, lose in the first few weeks and you have time to work your way back up, how many teams when they lose do you not see drop at least a few spots in the polls? Sucks I know, but its the truth.

I just wish they wouldnt rank teams until 3-4 weeks into the season... if you have a really good year but just happened to start the season ranked somewhat low you are screwed (Auburn a few years back - they just had too many damn spots to move up)

I'm of the mindset that if you lose a game you can't bitch when you are left out. It did suck for Auburn back then but Michigan jumped plenty of undefeateds from where they started.

You can't just point to a team and say they are garbage because the fact is you don't watch all those teams play. The computer SOS is useful because it doesn't allow for bias.

** and your bias is also showing. You can't put Georgia at 'great' when you have Washington State at simply 'decent.' Wazzou is in the Top 25 in the BCS and UGa is nowhere to be found.. I mean come on for fucks sake you said Vandy is 'decent' too...

Go to the website for each and it will tell you how it's calculated.

The only one I remember offhand is http://www.sagarin.com

well, the Georgia thing is tricky... they were considered great before Tenn beat thier ass, so do they suck or is Tenn just really good? Hurt that they lost to Vandy but Vandy has been decent this year, not top 25 or anything but I would say an average team... they are better than they usually are...

and I watch a lot of those teams play... I have the sports package on Direct TV and it covers a lot of the Pac-10 games. Of course this tells you the admittedly retarded amount of my life that I devout to college football

uh... the BCS is computers, no bias of dropping 3-4 spots if your percentage is high, then its high... if osu/mich are .948-ish and then wvu is like .761ish... the loser of that big ten championship game could still be higher than that .761..... cause its "computers"

i meant that if osu wins in the shoe.. they had an advantage but if michigan won on neutral turf, its "implied" they are better cause osu needed home field to win but michigan didn't

Ive heard so many college football analysts say they want Mich and OSU in the title game and that is just absurd. We have a possibility of having the following teams with the following records and there only being 2 spots for the national championship. BULLSHIT.
OSU - 12-0 / 11-1
Mich - 12-0 / 11-1
WVU - 12-0 / 11-1
Louis - 12-0 / 11-1
Texas - 12-1
USC - 11-1 or ND 11-1
Auburn - 12-1 / Florida - 12-1 / Tenn - 12-1 / Ark - 12-1
Boise State - 12-0
BC - 12-1

Start the polls 4/5/6 weeks into the season, use the BCS to determine the top 4/6/8 teams and let them go at it in a playoff. If youre the the #9 team in the BCS standings, you go to your bowl game and try again next year.

If Ohio State beats Michigan at home, michigan will have ZERO argument for playing in the title game

their schedule is cakewalk, they deficated on ND in a game they have to play, but otherwise rolled on shitty big 10 teams and awful out of conference opponents.

If Michigan beats Ohio State, I think the situation is a little different, but who gets the nod?

An undefeated west virginia or louisville team would probably get my vote...otherwise you have

Texas who lost to ohio state? (it wouldnt be the first time an absolute injustice like that happened, see 1993)

USC or ND at 11-1? bcs poll probably wouldnt let it happen

A whole bunch of possibilities from the sec...none of which I think would end up happening, because quite frankly none of them are great. Arkansas and Auburn have bad losses, Florida is fucking florida and will probably play themselves out of it anyway, Tenn has been less than inspiring at many times and Arkansas wont get the respect (and will play themselves out of it in all likeliness). Assuming the SEC winner comes out of the east, it will likely follow an anti-climactic win over arkansas who isnt given any credit.

Ohio State - West Virginia is your game

if Mich beats OSU there definitely should NOT be a rematch cause you could say "if michigan beats osu in the SHOE?!?! then they should definitely win again on neutral turf and the game (rematch) would be meaningless"

plus i just agree that louisville, if winning out, has proven to be an awesome team that deserves the national title game, i repeat, IF winning out of course...

I don't think it would matter if the UM-OSU loser was clearly #2 in the country, they still would not get in the title game. I think pollsters would take care of that.
