The G35 is actually the top car on my list. I give props to Ford for building a better Mustang, but in this case, I would take the G35 hands down.

I think the new mustang interior is way better then the evo one.

The evo has, hands down, one of the shittiest interior's I've ever seen. I think only Hyundia and GM top it. There's really no excuse at this price range but I'm hoping the next gen Lancer improves this area a lot.

i disagree...i've seen and touched mustang interior and its just as cheap and crappy as evos. but with worse seats and steering wheel and pedals.

it is pretty funny that all they did was take a 14,000 lancer econo box bolt in two seats, change the steering wheel and the shift knob. They didnt even try.

Sumfoo, there's a lot of things they could have done to make the Evo stand out from the base lancer luxury wise such as adding Auto Climate, accented vents, illuminescent gauge cluster and gauges that can actually be read. The lines of it aren't the problem, just everything else.

Nissan has announced it will feature a TT-V6 [i'm guessing the vq-35] a spy video of it on the nurburgring has leaked out on the internet if you want to try to find it."

thats what I didn't get...the first comment said "the skyline coming to the US"...i wasn't sure if they meant actual skyline skyline, or GT-R skyline. Guess I should have asked that first.

i'm not a huge fan of the new GT-R...give me a R33 anyday.

well yeah...but they didn't have luxury in mind when they made the car over the last 10 years. climate control is always off on track anyway

i don't know why people hate the gauges...i love them and find them easy to read. sure they could have changed things and add luxury but that would be a waste on a Evo. if i want luxury i buy German. they've mastered the art of luxury

i love my interior...all that matters is A) really good seats B) good steering wheel C) my double-din nav unit fits D) good pedal placement and good shifter placement.

But seriously, I guess I'm buying an evo?

Evo or G35 over the Mustang. And no, I am not anti-domestic. The Mitsu and Infiniti are just better cars for your money when you care about more than just raw power, which all these cars have.

You cant even read the boost gauge dude.

they could have surprised the race car drivers with a turbo timer. you know a 10$ circuit when produced in quantities greater than 10.

Ok some of you completely are missing the point. I'm not asking for sunroof, leather, heated seats and a trip computer that sucks my dick. All I want are clear gauges that I can't look at without turning my head right and drifting my eyes down to the shifter; interior controls that don't look like they came straight out of a GMC, and the same digital HVAC controls found in every single other car in this price range and a bunch half as expensive. These aren't expensive, they don't add weight, and they increase the everyday driving experience. I mean the rattling and noise doesn't bother me at all but I want every control I touch to have a solid feel to it. This a complaint I have with every japanese car up through Lexus though Honda's gotten a lot better at it. Hell, I'd even prefer a flat aluminum trim piece to the faux cf they have in there now.

Its just good tasteful design that I hope gets implemented in the next platform.

And mark, your gauges weren't even in your car the last time I saw em .

And for the record, I totally hijacked this thread biatches!

Personally, I think that the materials used in most Japanese interiors and dashes are pretty solid. Especially when compared to the rental grade materials used in Ford and GMs. Dodge is a little better, but still bland and unrefined.

On a side note, I had a chance to ride in my friend's new IS and the interior design on that thing is magnificent.

my tach and speedometer are in there...thats what i look at.

and as far as boost gauge goes...i can't 'read' bar anyway...if it was in PSI then thats different...and not that I would even look at my boost gauge unless there seemed to be a problem with boosting. The only gauge i'd really look at before and after track sessions is the oil temp gauge...and location for that is not important because you won't look at it while driving most of the time...

Quinn I think you nailed it. Next Evo they should just offer two classes:

1) Mitsubishi Basics Part 1: Converting Metric Units to standard for your new Evo.
2) Mitsubishi Basics Part 2: Learning to browse the internets to fix our design failures in case Part 1 is too hard.

That way they wouldn't need to even bother with pesky MPH. They can just sell KPH speedometers and label engine output as as 230 KW.

dude, last time i checked...and i asked you to convert the BAR into PSI you said 'uhhh i don't know'

km/h is no problem for me since i grew up on the metric system...but when it came time to learn things like pressure etc...i moved to the united states...i would much rather use the metric system anyway

I've driven a 2006 5sp GT... its so freaking cheap feeling... the door handle feels like its going to break and the shift nob twists in your hand...

Friend of mine has the G35 and its very nice and peppy but he's ALWAYS complaining about rattles... but he's anal anyways... much nicer car

The evo isn't bad, but if you saw the Discovery show the Evo came in 4th the STI came in 3rd...
their complaint with the Evo was that it was a econobox that they threw a good engine, transmission drivetrain in, but was still a shitty shitty interior... (complaint about the STI was the turbo lag was out of control)

but then you have the Audi quattro that kicked both their asses... but audi's as most german cars become a hellaciously expensive pain between 60-80k...

^... this was for rally cars....DOH!!!!

the coupe quattro cost $texas to maintain.

also if you remember there was a ford rs 2000 evolution on there too.

10hours at full throttle... I was soooooo happy that show came on, I was in a hotel with my girlfriend and we were about to go check out when it came on... so we stayed and watched... she has a Lancer (non-evo) so when they said "they took a piece of shit economy car and made it fun" I laughed my ever living ass off... and then when the Audi Quattro which is like the grandfather of my overweight but kick ass car won I was even more ecstatic...

There is no Audi within either the STi or Evo price range that comes to being a better car.

BMW you might argue, but not fucking audi.

RS4 is the closest audi to a STi and Evo and that costs in the neighborhood of $70,000 and is also extremely heavy. but the Evo and STi are still faster on track.

you have to give a definition of a better car... both those cars would blow it off the track no doubts whatsoever... I commented on my car being overweight...

As far as daily driver, The a4 kicks ass... but he's not even looking for an A4 and I wouldn't even recommend one for reliability issues... My cube mate has a WRX and he can dunk off of his left leg b/c the clutch is so stiff which is a nightmare in stop and go traffic. In general my car is a vastly better daily driver... its relatively quick handles very well, very nice features for daily commutes and gets 5mpg better than his...

so it all depends on how to define a "better" car... WRX and EVO's are econobox's built for the track and are rough on a daily driver.

I gaurantee my car shifts easier then your audi.

I mean the only thing I'd want out of it would be the sound deadening material and automatic climate controls.

My audi has kinda a long shift throw compared to the RSX-S that I drove... but at the same time it has a MUCH friendlier daily driving clutch and the long throw I just kinda lolligag with... short shifters SUCK when your synchros go out... you won't have a prayer in hell of finding the right gear you won't know till a roll check if you've hit 1st 3rd or 5th...

the golf I used to have didn't have synchros anymore and I hit 3rd alllllll the time

i mean the only 'econobox' part of a Evo is the word lancer. There is nothing 'economical' about owning an Evo. Gas mileage is worse than a 996.

and my STi wasnt any better

i mean an automatic is the only 'good stop and go traffic' kind of car. but i don't want a car thats easy to drive in stop and go...hence why i will never own an automatic. it takes half the fun out of driving.

leather seats is the worsed thing ever. They are either too hot, too cold. but that doesn't matter as much as the fact its like a slip and slide going around turns. Unless you are a member of the village people and own leather pants...its no good.
