To some degree it actually is. He could have gotten Davis and Werner in here. Also if he knew he wasn't going to get them, he could have went out and tried to get some unsigned recruits instead of a 7'2" douche that nobody wanted. But I guess Sid was still busy getting his degree.

Well, no. Sid couldn't have gone out and recruited anybody because he wasn't allowed to recruit until he passed the NCAA's test. He didn't do that until after he had finished his responsibilities with the Pistons, and then finished his degree.

Davis and Werner, maybe. But it's hard to hold those two against him. Seton Hall pulled some dirty, dirty moves in the process of taking Davis, and Werner's dad hated State fans for what they said about his son on the recruiting message boards.

Way to just look at the numbers. Let's ignore the fact that both of his stints as a head coach with the Timberwolves and Grizzlies was when they were some of the worst teams personnel wise in the history of the NBA. Sidney Lowe was the fifth head coach in the Grizzlies' short history and led them to a franchise-best record of 23-59 in his first season. Don't blame Lowe for his teams' lack of quality players.

nope. as an asst (and these are rough numbers i just hacked out based on wikipedia records) he had a 451-419 w-l record (ie: 51.8 winning percentage)

If you listened to lowe's interview on media day, you would see where he addressed his lack of success as a head coach in the NBA.



Someone told him with this first team that he would NOT win no matter what happened, the players were just that bad, or they didnt have all the pieces. The guy told him that he had to coach the hell out of them and get them to buy into his system so that they could win the few games that they were in. It was a pretty cool interview for people that arent interested in making shit up.

i saw Coach Lowe at the FSU football game this year and approached him. as expected he was nice enough to shake my hand and offer a smile.

i said "thanks for coming coach". he said "ok" and smiled. and spontaneuosly a seriousness came over my face as i said "really, thank you for coming." i think he understood what i meant even though i didn't at the time.

Ahhh last night game was so refreshing. It was the first game I was able to watch...no made throwing up of thre pointers by Centers...running the ball, fast breaks, attempted dunks and fast scoring and big men doing what they suppose to do, play big, get rebounds, tip the ball in, and dish out....

Awesome...I hope we can keep pace and momentum and just play strong through out the rest of the season...I don't expect a great season this year, but a good strong showing of what he can do with none of his own recruiting I imagine will help recruiting here big time.
