It would be awesome to see Wake win the ACC.

I wouldn't even be pissed about us.

i could see clemson winning out. i also think that bc has a chance to win out, but it much less likely to happen. if both do win out, bc goes to the ACC championship game. if that happens, does anyone think that clemson could possibly pick up an at-large BCS bid? they will likely be in the top-8 if they win out and give the ACC two BCS teams (clemson and the winner of the ACC championship game). again unlikely, but the best scenario for the ACC to get two BCS bids.

No I don't see it.

They would have to take Clemson over either the winner of Michigan/Ohio State or the 2nd place SEC team.

Or Notre Dame, who I think gets a spot automatically if they are top 10.

[Edited on October 22, 2006 at 1:11 PM. Reason : ACC is super weak this year]

^^definately, but hopefully somehow we can get our miracles going and beat clemson and go.

[Edited on October 22, 2006 at 1:12 PM. Reason : very possible]

^there are 5 at large bids this year

[Edited on October 22, 2006 at 1:14 PM. Reason : cuz 2 champions will be in glendale.]

we will go to jacksonville if we win out, wake loses two games, and bc loses one more game.

it could happen right?

We have to win out. That will not happen.

If we beat UVA, GT, and Clemson, then we truly are the biggest "WTF?!?!?!?" team in the county. Then we would lose to UNC and possible ECU. Our team is bipolar.

But yes, 1% chance we beat the next 3 teams.

Wake and BC play each other, so one of them will have 2 ACC loses. We need BC to lose 1 more game, wether it comes from WF or Miami.

WF needs 2 more loses for us to pull ahead of them. They play FSU, BC, VT, UNC, Maryland. 2 more loses is very possible.

Still, we really dont have a chance because we can only lose 1 more game, and thats to ECU.

WF and maryland really only need 1 more loss to force a three or more way tie which we would win because we'd have wins over the best team from the other division and overall against the top 3 teams in the conference

WF and maryland both beat us. That would make us 0-2 against those and it would be between WF and Maryland.

In case you didn't read my post on the first page:
Quote :
"Two-Team Tie
1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams

2. Records of the tied teams within the division.

3. Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall record.(divisional) Conference record and proceeding though the division. Multiple ties within the division broken from first to last.

4. Overall record versus all common non-divisional opponents.

5. Combined record vs. all non-divisional teams.

6. Record versus common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish (divisional and non-divisional) and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.

7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the end of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game.

8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw.

Three (or More) Team Tie
(Once tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker format is used)
1. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams

2. Records of the tied teams within the division.

3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last.

4. Overall record for non-divisional teams.

5. Combined record versus all common non-divisional teams.

6. Record versus common non-divisional with the best overall Conference (divisional) and non-divisional record and proceeding through the other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within the division.

7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the ACC Championship Game.

8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw."

we would be 2-2 you arent counting bc and clemson we would have an advantage over those 2 teams any way you cut it and they are likely to swing bigger dicks. and you are also assuming maryland wins 4 out of a very tough 5

I didn't assume anything. You just said WF and Maryland would need one more loss to cause a 3-way tie. A 4way tie between Us/WF/BC/Clemson would be a fucking mess.

Can we seriously just stop this shit about figuring out what it would take for us to make it. We aren't going to. Period. Call me a bad fan if you want but this is just stupid. We lost to fucking Akron. We aren't running the table.

V yeah, if the Clemson and BC planes somehow collide in mid air.

We have to win 3 out of our last 5 just to have a CHANCE at a bowl.

honestly, when we lost to MD we lost any reasonable shot at winning the ACC, although there is a chance. We wont beat both Clem and GT (prolly with a weird win over clem and a stupid loss to GT). We should beat UVA and UNC (even though we have bad luck against them). And then assuming that we did loose to GT and Clem and beat UNC and UVA we have to then beat ECU just to go to a toilet bowl. So... to go BCS we have to win out conference games (very unlikely). Then beat the other divisions winner (probably GT) which if it is GT we wont beat them twice. So be happy to win 3 of the next 5 and go to a toilet bowl.

They don't have to take us at all, but we do travel win because we have REAL FANS OMG Earl

Hypothetically, if there was a 3 way tie between us/Clemson/WF: Clemson would be 1-1, NC State would be 1-1, and WF would be 1-1. Clemson would be 3-2 in the Atlantic Division, NC State would be 3-2. If WF loses to either BC, MD, or FSU they would be 3-2. If they lose to VT, WF would be 4-1 in the atlantic. Assuming WF is 3-2, step #3 gets a little more complicated and it depends on the other Atlantic Division team records and I don't feel like thinking that much.

I am worried about WF and NCSU being tied

Since WF beat us, dont they automatically get the Atlantic title?

If it ends up WF and NC State, WF wins the Atlantic Division since they won the head to head. It's not that hard.

Thats what I thought. but the rules someone posted

""Two-Team Tie

makes it seem like you would play each other again to see who wins.

the source of my confusion is the terrible english in this rule. as well as my inability to assume I am right

haha. That could be kinda confusing. The whole two team tied rules are pointless. A team would have only played the other team once. So the head-to-head would be either 0-1 or 1-0. There's no need for the other rules.

hmm.

We still have to win out.

Or at the very least have an extremely lucky 3way tie.

but uhh, maybe we do have a chance against Clemson

the english of it is fine . . . it just means whoever won the head-to-head competition between the teams.

don't know how anyone with any knowledge of sports could think that means that they would play again.

First off FSU sucks ass this year. All 3 of those teams are FAR better than FSU this year.

About those 2 wins though. That is exactly the point. We are far too inconsistent...

** One more thing: We have as good a chance as Rutgers does to make the BCS game. Which is none.

^ur an idiot man. to say we couldnt beat anybody is a stretch. I just listed the least talented probable bcs team rutgers and 2 passing teams that we match up well against boise and notre dame. now just about anybody can beat anybody but if you had to say teams we couldnt beat you would say teams like wvu auburn ohio state michigan usc.

we beat bc and im 100% sure if we hadn't played them yet you'd be saying we couldn't beat them. YOU ARE NOT A STATE FAN. GET YOUR BUT BACK TO NEW ENGLAND

and just because we lost to akron means we couldnt beat them? we "beat" them anyway.

It means quit getting false hope for something that it destined not to happen. We aren't going to a BCS bowl. Too many things needs to go perfect and they simply aren't going to.

I would NEVER say a team can't beat BCU. The Beagles are a classic choke-job team. They will probably never win the ACC and they certainly won't EVER finish a year undefeated. They are a joke. Once people realize that, they will realize wins over them don't mean shit..

** A top tier team? I'd say Boise, though I'd hardly classify them as top tier like you did. Only because of the overall team speed that we have compared to Boise. I also wouldn't consider Rutgers a top tier team either, but I do think they are a better football team by leaps and bounds than us..

Well, ND has played as hard a schedule (according to Sagarin) and their only loss is to the #2 team in the country.. BC has certainly not been impressive in certain W's (CMU, BUY, etc) against lesser teams than ND hasn't been as impressive in..

I think we do well in bowls because we have a singular focus. No bs about the record, no bs about the next big game. The season is over and everyone focuses, and we end up playing like we wish we could all year.
