Well, for my part, I can attest to the horrors of Saddam and specifically what he did at Abu Gharib personally. I had the honor of being the first American inside that prison when I "liberated" it in April 2003. One of my soldiers still has the Iraqi flag that flew over the Warden's office. The whole place was a real shit hole and had plenty of rotting corpses inside. The results of Saddam's justice make naked pyramids look like a happy frat party.

Disgusting excuse for a human being.

Yo falkland, you have been promising to lay waste to my village for a long time. How is that coming along?

^^^ Hey, falkland, you were in 7th Cav? So was I. It's been a LONG time, though. I was a supply sergeant and served under Presidents Reagan and Bush 41.

In the mid-'80s, I went permanent party in HHT 3/12 Cavalry, which was an armored unit, at Armstrong Caserne in Budingen, West Germany (formerly). Later, the unit redesignated as 4/7 Cavalry, which was air cav. (And it was a trip!) Both units, of course, were in 3rd Armored Division.

I couldn't find a 4/7 Cavalry guidon, but I have some old pictures.

Shit! I was wrong--The Horrors of Hussein is NOT coming on tonight. I don't see it listed again. I apologize for the error.

it's sad the lack of respect we get on here. we protect the country and get crap thrown back in our faces...sad

anyway, i have seen a special similar to this. it really brought things home for me, even more so than before. look at the wealth he built up on the abuse of his citizens. not only did he kill them, he tortured them and abused them for his personal egomaniacal gain. that man was a tyrant and a very evil man, and it is INFINATELY good that we removed him.

Part of the documentary showed a film clip during which Hussein was giving a speech to an auditorium full of Bath Party members. To their surprise, he stated that he had uncovered a conspiracy against him--and the "conspirators" were in the room.

Hussein brought an "informant" onto the stage and asked him to point out those involved. As Hussein sat there toothily grinning and smoking his cigar, the informant pointed out the supposedly involved conspirators--many sobbed and begged for their lives. One by one, Hussein’s thugs dragged the men outside and shot them in the head. It was tough to watch--and I've seen a lot of bad shit in my life.

Exactly hooksaw, but nobody I know actively interested in world relations doesn't agree that Sadam was a bastard.

Sure he was a brutal dictator, but wasn't he a middle man to muslim relations? He was a Baathist right. The more powerful sect of Islam at the time? But we (as in the currect US administration) decided him as the scape goat. We spearheaded the Middle East thinking we could win influence without considering the other sects. Thats where we corrupted our "strategery" am I right, or am I wrong? The Iraqi elections didn't come off as we intended, nor have they presently due to internal conflict (nearly 3000 dead U.S. soldiers up and coming.) Thats why we're still fighting today, am I wrong? Please tell me. I would like to know the rights side of thinking. Bear in mind I'm am neither right or left but a middle class American.

Look I dont mean to banter you with questions. It's just that the regular right-left hassles haven't created a perfect solution. Whether or not the left is more logical in their resolutions is not is the question. The question is...why cant our govermental institution bring arise a solution that will better address the worldly condition (wheather it be policy with Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or North Korea) without impeding their liberties to choose their own government.
A lot of Islamics accuse us as Imperalist and thats why they hate us so. Abandoning Iraq is obviously the wrong step according to them. I think thats something we all can agree upon. I'm at lost, however, to what is the main divisive line between these two parties in American politics. To me it's either a lose-lose or a win-win situation, not all the consertive-liberal this and that rhetoric. We as voters need to step up and pick the correct path for our nation and not fall victim to all this partisan bs

Jesus, man! I was simply asking people to watch a documentary. In this thread, I'm not trying to build a case for anything--except that I found Hussein's dictatorial acts to be even more shocking than I thought they were.

not taking away from Hussein but i wish we had footage of Stalin and what he did because that would make a pretty sweet documentary.
