^ I was just about to say that. Someone told me they recorded those drums in a stairwell to get that sound.

That's a common misconception.

They actually used a stairwell modeling plugin in ProTools.

Walking on the Moon by Police is pretty great on the drums. Gotta love Stewart Copeland.

^^ Maybe you didn't, but Bonzo had that shit on a half dozen daisy-chained INIACs.

gg on the Stewart Copeland, it has taken me years to finally appreciate how good that band was. Sting's just fucked up their legacy for too long now by continuously putting out shit.

the answer is: ¨who is Danny Carey in 46&2?¨

and i dont know anything about, nor can i play, the drums...but i know what it sounds like when a kit gets completely fucking owned...

this an opinion thread, that means NO right or wrong answers....so i win.

first, sting didn't put out shit. you take that back.

second, danny carey gets on my nerves. i mean i guess it's impressive that the dude can play in 194/127 time signature but it gets a little old. plus his drums often sound like a large man smacking his own belly.

Tommy Lee did some incredible work with motley crue, especially on Dr. Feelgood.

Despite Slipknot being a shitty band, I do enjoy the drums in "(Sic)" a lot

Axlbonbach, if you are a true m-sludge fan (guessing), then you could only respect Sting for his marathon love making abilities. And i respect you for respecting that. Respect.

^I KNOW
just wanted to share this insane shit with everyone

any song by tool (danny carey) or yes/king crimson (Bill bruford) all have good drumming
I also love anything by cream (Ginger Baker) and the Jimi Henrix Experience (Mitch Mitchell)

bttt

can't figure out if vinylbandit (and I) didn't realize that I had posted "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" on the first page or not. anyway, I really like this thread and am curious what people are liking these days.

to recap the OP:
Quote :
"this thread is NOT about drum solos, but just the basic drum part throughout the song."

Quote :
" not to imply this is the BEST drumming in a rock song. but it's the drumming that makes these songs."

To get things going again, I'll offer up "Ether" by Gang of Four:
