Because Rally is normaly wrong when he posts. And It's my job to correct someone when they're wrong. Nash won the award, hands down. Case closed. If he wants to be bitter about it, thent that's his problem. Evidently the peeps giving the awards agree with me, so I'm right and he's wrong.

Here's the facts.

All the NBA experts think its a joke that Nash won.

He's a great PG, but he's not even close to MVP.

No one would ever take a guy who only plays one side of the court over a game changer like Lebron, Kobe, Dwade, etc

Fact.

PER ratings for '05-'06

1) Dirk
2) Lebron
3) Kobe
4) Wade
5) Garnett
6) Brand
7) Iverson
8) Yao
9) Shaq
10) Arenas
11) Pierce
12) Marion
13) Billups
14) Nash

Thats pretty much the who's who of the NBA. Your boy just doesn't measure up, sorry. And this format actually overvalues Nash because it doesn't take into account what a liability he is on defense. No one actually believes he's the best player in the league but he's a little scrappy white guy and it makes for a good story for him to win. Point Guards are not League MVP's and if they were John Stockton and Jason Kidd in their primes were twice the player Nash is. Gary Payton was better as well. This is not even debatable. Its what you like to call "fact". Now go grab a towel and finish jerking off to Marcus Stone's pics on your hard drive.
Quote :
"
The Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a rating of a player's per-minute productivity.

To generate it, I created formulas -- which I've outlined in tortuous detail in "Pro Basketball Forecast" -- that return a value for each of a player's accomplishments. That includes positive accomplishments, such as field goals, free throws, 3-pointers, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals, and negative ones, such as missed shots, turnovers and personal fouls.

Two important things to remember about PER is that it's per-minute and pace-adjusted. It's a per-minute measure because that allows us to compare, say, Drew Gooden to Donyell Marshall, even though there is a wide disparity in the minutes they played. I also adjust each player's rating for his team's pace, so that players on a slow-paced team like Indiana aren't penalized just because their team's games have fewer possessions than those of a fast-paced team such as Phoenix.

Bear in mind that this rating is not the final, once-and-for-all answer for a player's accomplishments during the season. This is especially true for players such as Bruce Bowen and Trenton Hassell who are defensive specialists but don't get many blocks or steals. What PER can do, however, is summarize a player's statistical accomplishments in a single number. That allows us to unify the disparate data on each player that we try to track in our heads (e.g., Danny Fortson: great rebounder, high-percentage shooter, turnover machine, fouls like crazy, etc.) so that we can move on to evaluating what might be missing from the stats.

I set the league average in PER to 15.00 every season.

Among players who played at least 500 minutes in 2005-06, the highest rating was Dirk Nowitzki's 28.20. The lowest was Jim Jackson's 3.01. "

How about Boozer tearing it up last night??

And Dwight Howard destroyed Ben Wallace. I think Howard is going to have a monster year, and the rest of the Magic looked pretty good. I have to say I'm a little surprised with how Nelson played at the end of last year and how he's started off this year. I thought he would be a mediocre-to-solid NBA point guard...but he's looking like he's going to be a pretty good player. Maybe not All-Star material, but definitely a solid PG for a good team.

Boozer was easily a top 3 PF in his last fully healthy season. He'll have great numbers this year and having Kirilenko beside you doesn't hurt.

How about fucking Paul Pierce?

29 pts. 19 reb. 4 ast.

that is just nasty for a 6-6 guard.

I got a couple weird looks taking him ealry in the fantasy draft....but he does put up good numbers when healthy and there aren't too many good PF/C combos in fantasy. At least not ones that will put up the numbers he will.

Boozer is pretty overrated in fantasy. His scoring and rebounding are pretty solid and his FG% is very nice but he's average at the FT line and he does not block shots at all. When you throw in his injury risk he's likely to go too high in most drafts.

it all depends on your league, but he isn't a BAD ft shooter and isn't injury prone even though he's had a couple injuries...he's pretty durable imo...i wouldn't take hi top 3 rounds, but he's a solid pick.

i have duke bias, so i like boozer , but you make a valid point for leagues that look at everything...if it's just points, rebounds, blocks, steals, etc...he's solid.

cavs and suns...i wonder how long the mavs can go winless? i'd say they pick up their first win their next game after tonight.

how about some early season playoff predictions...i'll start
east: heat d. cavs
west: spurs d. clippers(if they use brand more)
finals: heat d. spurs...wade puts the team on his back and averages 38, 7, and 7

Cavs win over Bulls

Mavs get their first win, Suns continue to suck, they blow another lead in the 4th.

Spurs over, uhh, Pistons I guess. The east seems pretty open in the playoff race, but all the teams seem to suck.

I can't believe the Bulls came back and Nocioni didn't get fouled on the three. He created the contact.

I thought the Warriors and the Kings played one of those classic Mavs vs. Kings games where points were abundant and defense was absent. Great game though with guys like Monta Ellis and Kevin Martin showing the nation that they're up-and-coming players. Baron Davis went into "Beast Mode" last night. 18 assists!!! Too bad it was against my team.

you thought that was a foul? battier stood still with his hands up and didnt even leave his feet. nocioni leaned in and draped his arms all over battier and then cried cause they didnt call somethin. if they had called a foul there, it woulda undermined the respect the nba is trying to get the players to show the refs.

Let me rephrase that. I can't believe the Bulls came back and almost won. Nocioni did NOT get fouled. He initiated the contact. There.

Yeah, I saw that clip. Ridiculous.

Anyway, I'll admit that I'm really surprised about the Utah Jazz's hot start. 10-1 to start is very good, but I'm wondering if they will hit a wall sometime. I think the last time they got off to a hot start, they missed the playoffs, so I would love to get thoughts on that.

Plus, the Mavs are starting to realize they are the Mavs again. They've won six straight.

I think what's even more impressive is that Jerry Sloan is doing this with a young squad, so I'll be definitely looking forward to watching their game vs. the Lakers pretty soon on national TV.
