Not many songs really fit that category.

I'd say 2 songs that deal with coping over losing a loved one:

John Michael Montgomery - "I Miss You A Little" (written about losing his father)
and
Vince Gill - "Go Rest High On That Mountain" (written about losing his brother)

But the #1 Depressing Country song of all-time:
George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today

see also:

George Jones - Good Year For the Roses; If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me, Her Memory Will

Alan Jackson - Remember When (I don't think that one's really supposed to be depressing, but it is to me because my relationship history is kinda fucked up, and I'll probably either end up being the creepy guy at the bar hitting on college chicks, or the old pimp actually still boning college chicks, but never having a meaningful relationship)

Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullaby

Steve Earle - My Old Friend the Blues

Gary Allen - Songs About Rain

Willie Nelson - Always On My Mind

Merle Haggard - Mama's Hungry Eyes; Silver Wings; If We Make It Through December; Sing Me Back Home

Johnny Cash - Ballad Of Ira Hayes; I Still Miss Someone (Robert Earl Keen also does a good cover of this song)

David Allen Coe - If That Ain't Country

[Edited on November 11, 2006 at 12:43 AM. Reason : He Stopped Loving Her Today is probably #1 on this list]
