spanish and arabic belong to totally different groups of languages, even if they some use similar words there is not way for you to understand anything.
Dont forget that up to 50% of the english vocab is latin based, yet its very hard for english speaking people to undestand latin based languages, why? because they belong to different language families and therefore have different grammer structure ... etc.
what are the other languages that u speak? 11/9/2006 6:19:23 PM |

anyone who argues that English is a romance language is a complete trogladyte. the language may use french words, but the grammar and word order is distinctly german.11/9/2006 9:58:23 PM |

Words...
I took German in HS and in college. It is completely phonetic so spelling and pronunciation are never a big problem. The grammar is all straightfoward. Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Switzerland all speak German, and speaking from experience Germany and Austria are gorgeous and have such a great culture, good food, and even better beer. As far as aesthetic, well, I think it is. I took it for cultural reasons until my family found out we were from the Austro-Hungarian area (Slavic on that language map), then I just stuck with it.
