jeans and a t-shirt today, I've never worn a tie to work other than during my job interview

I wear a tie every now and then, but don't really have to. I definitely do it when I am giving a presentation of my research to the corporate hotshots, and usually when I am teaching a continuing-education class.

Depends on who is in the office. Clients = yes...regular staff = meh, no.

I wear jeans every day. I wish we could wear t-shirts but they won't let us. So usually a polo and jeans.

I usually have a tie on at work. I'm in insurance...industry is slow to change. We are business casual this month. Get to wear jeans on payday. I really like how management uses "jeans days" and "casual days" as some sort of treat. Its almost like I'm a dog or something. "If we hit our CFR number, we'll do 2 jeans days! How does that sound!? Good boy."

the legal side of where i work, the young just out of college legal people tend to go way overboard on business casual...you should see some of those "jeans" the ladies wear.....and one day I was passing through the department and a bunch of them were wearing flip flops. That is against the rules, we had a memo here recently saying they might have to upgrade the dress code since people dont get that jeans that are hanging off your ass, or a shirt that shows the tat on in the square of your back, arent allowed(always females that are breaking the rules)

Tie when the customer is visiting. Otherwise, business casual since I'm in finance. The slackers in engineering can wear jeans and hawaiian shirts.
