Apparently atsur only needs a few more starts to join the top 5 all time ncsu starters (with hodge). 12/5/2006 2:51:30 AM |

I'd like to see that top-5.
Off the top of my head, I can only think of Gainey and Hodge that I know would be on there. I can't remember if Fire and Ice started a lot as freshmen. 12/5/2006 8:35:27 AM |

That's only the case because back in the day you couldn't join the varsity team until your sophomore year. 12/5/2006 9:18:41 AM |

Not only is senior guard Engin Atsür the most experienced player on the 2006-07 Wolfpack squad, but he could finish his career ranked as the most experienced player in school history.
Atsür has now started 95 games during his career, tied as the 10th-best mark in school history. With the start against Valpo on Nov. 21, he passed his current head coach, Sidney Lowe, on the career list.
Atsür needs just six more starts to move into the top five in school history. His former teammate Julius Hodge holds the school record with 125 career starts.
At one point in his career, Atsür had started 78 consecutive games before missing a start last season after being late to a meeting. He has been a regular in the Wolfpack starting lineup since the ninth game of his freshman campaign.
With 3,176 career minutes in 100 games under his belt, Atsür has averaged 31.8 minutes per contest for his career. If he averages even close to that amount as a senior, he will move way up the list in that category as well." |

Yeah...but that was gone by at least the early 80's, probably late 70's. Fire and Ice didn't get to State until 1987 or '88. I'm just curious to see who else is on that list.
Lets see if I'm too lazy to look it up.
Yep....I'm too lazy. Quick gopack.com and google search yielded me nothing. Hopefully someone else will do it for me.

We could've been a tourney team with Atsur healthy all year long.. he is, BY FAR, the most valuable guy on the team.. 2/3/2007 5:12:26 PM |

I'm just glad Atsur got to beat UNC here at the RBC his senior year. He is by far the most important piece of the puzzle this year and proved it today. 2/3/2007 10:16:05 PM |
