1. Florida beat nine teams that are projected to play in bowl games. Michigan beat six.

2. Michigan beat five teams that finished the season with losing records. Florida beat two teams with sub-.500 records.

3. Florida's 12 Division I-A opponents had a combined record of 89-57. Michigan's 12 opponents had a combined record of 84-61.

4. Michigan's best win is considered a 27-13 victory over Wisconsin on Sept. 23. The Badgers are 11-1 and have climbed to No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll, despite having played only one ranked opponent -- the Wolverines -- the entire season.

5. The 12 teams Florida defeated finished the season with 11 combined wins against opponents which were ranked in the AP Top 25 poll at the time the game was played. The opponents Michigan defeated claim just three wins against ranked teams (Notre Dame beat Penn State. Indiana beat Iowa. Vanderbilt beat Georgia. The Nittany Lions, Hawkeyes and Bulldogs, it should be noted, haven't been ranked in seven weeks).

6. The Gators went 3-1 against ranked opponents, beating then-No. 13 Tennessee, No. 9 LSU and No. 8 Arkansas and losing at No. 11 Auburn. The Wolverines went 1-1 against ranked opponents, beating a highly overrated No. 2 Notre Dame team (that lost to Michigan and USC by a combined total of 46 points) and losing at No. 1 Ohio State 42-39 on Nov. 18.

7. The Gators' average margin of victory against Division I-A teams was 13.5 points. They won seven games by 14 points or fewer, six by less than 10. The Wolverines' average margin of victory was 17.3 points. They won six games by 14 points or fewer, two by less than 10.

8. The Gators played Western Carolina, a Division I-AA team, and won by 62 points. The Wolverines played Ball State, which should be a I-AA team, and won by eight.

9. Since the Wolverines last played and lost at Ohio State, the Gators won at Florida State (The Seminoles are 6-6, but rivalry games are tough to win. Just ask USC coach Pete Carroll) and then beat the No. 8 Razorbacks, who defeated then-No. 2 Auburn and No. 13 Tennessee by 17 points each.

10. Michigan didn't win the Big Ten; Florida won the SEC. Winning your conference should be a prerequisite for playing in the national championship.

unless the two best teams in the nation happen to be in the same conference.

The National Championship is over a month away, why dont they let Michigan play Florida on a neutral field in two weeks. They could call it the BCS Sucks Bowl and get Dr. Pepper to sponsor it. There would be no problem selling out the stadium with fans, or getting sponsors to advertise for the game, so there wouldnt be the threat of money being lost.

plus that will still give the winner and OSU two more weeks to prepare for the national championship. Makes perfect sense to me

thats pretty hard to tell objectively, so if you are gonna go for the "national" championship, it probably should be 2 different conference champions. assuming everyone else in the nation doesnt blow major ass (ex. it probably shouldnt be the acc champ).

b/c when chris leak, or chad henne or mike hart blows out their knee in a game that should've never been played, it won't seem like it such a good idea.

aside from the money of the bowls, extending the season is one of the pitfalls of a college fb playoff

Personally, I think Michigan still has a much better chance of beating OSU (Florida doesn't play 'long' enough to score ample points against OSU's D - yes, I;m well aware they put up quite a few last night on Ark).

That said, the re-match would make a better game. Moreover, nothing like the biggest rivalry in CF to fill out a championship game.

let's look at the ESPN poll, look at who ohio wants to play. obviously they aren't going to pick the team they are more scared of....

^no, I think OSU fans (myself included) want to play every single good team possible, beat them down, and prove to everyone that they are the best team in the nation. They already proved that point by beating Michigan once, if they play again then Florida fans everywhere will claim that they couldve beat the Buckeyes but never got a chance to play them. If OSU plays and beats Florida, then they will have a win over Florida and Michigan on their resume

I knew that would come up, and yeah its definetly a concern, but any of those players couldve got hurt in any game this season, its part of the sport. I mean with that logic, since these guys are such great athletes, why dont we just measure their talents seperately, make an excel spreadsheet of 40 times, throwing distance, kicking distance, etc. and just give the national championship to the team who leads the most catagories?

[enter bitter michigan fans]

My official predictino is THE ohio state university 24 - florida 17.. people saying Ohio State will score 40+ are out of their minds.. Florida's defense is better than Michigans and I don't care what the numbers say..
