When I saw we were hiring Tom O'Brein I nearly shit my pants in sheer shock. Here's a coach who not only lost to Amato in Amato's worst year but consistently performed average (beating easy teams, splitting even teams, and losing to better teams) being hired by a school that ran off a different "average" coach for not being able to win the big game.

Do you guys honestly think TOB is going to be able to get an ACC championship or BCS bid consistently? Sure, he might go 9-3 every year against ass teams but his conference record:

2000: 3-4
2001: 4-3
2002: 3-4
2003: 3-4
2004: 4-2 * No miami or VT in BigEast
2005: 5-3
2006: 5-3

Is not that good.

on another note, everyone keeps bringing up O'Brien's record against the top 25....What is Amato's? I'm pretty sure that we have a bad record against the top 10, although Amato is ok vs. the bottom of the top 25.

a coach like Paul Johnson, Jimbo Fisher, or Mike Sherman had a much higher ceiling than TOB. TOB has reached his ceiling.
