Is a returner a defensive position? especially when considering Punt defense/return? Or is he considered offense for the kick-off leading to an offensive series?

Hester needs to be considered, he's done something no one has done before, rookie or not.

Offensive ROY isn't that tight.
Recall, Bush didn't do SHIT until a few weeks ago. Colston was a lock until his unfortunate injury. Neither of them can beat out Vince Young. Hester won't get consideration since he's a CB/kick returner, although he will most definitely make the Pro Bowl. Maurice Jones-Drew has a shot, but I think Young's the favorite.


And ANYONE who argues that Ladainian Tomlinson will not be MVP is fucking retarded. He just broke the single-season TD record in 13 games.

But still, it's Jamie Martin. I understand about how you have to install different stuff for the new guy and make sure that every playcall in there is tailored to his skillset, and you don't have to do that for running backs.... but San Diego isn't 11-2 solely because of LDT. They've had some huge margins of victory because of him, and he's certainly the best RB of this generation, but the Saints wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as good as they are with anyone not named Drew Brees running the QB position for them. I like to look at the changes made by their surrounding teams:

New Orleans: Lost Bentley and Howard, traded Stallworth, Mayberry retired, linebackers/o-line overhauled, Jason Craft NOT cut; added Bush and Colston, traded for H. Thomas, added Brees.

San Diego: Lost Brees, Foley shot; traded Davis to promote Florence to FT starter, moved Rivers to starting QB, vastly improved oline, emergence of Castillo/Merriman/Phillips as defensive stars.

I'm aware that I didn't include every single transaction, but the Chargers have largely kept the same guys around. Brees went from question mark (shoulder) to leading passer in the NFL; not to mention that he has to do it all with dozens of new teammates. LDT isn't up against that.

Tomlinson for Offensive Player of the Year, Brees for Most Valuable.

LT has more than just a shot (2 points away) at breaking the single season scoring record set by Paul Hornung in 1960, and he was both their field goal kicker and #1 RB.
